Basel 2017 won, with just this alone. Let alone the rest...

GMT gives a better intuitive sense of time differential imo since the 24h hand rotates around the dial. I think the Pepsi C will reduce demand for the SS SkyD.

Nice and congrats! But I guess it is an eyesore to many WG owners that broke their hearts. I still can't believe Rolex did that, though I understand why they did that.

We can certainly agree to disagree. They are so very different watches, whether we are talking movement, wrist presence.....I cant even fathom one affecting the other. The pepsi is just another GMT. Plenty of GMT options available right now.

Both 2017 + 2018 we’re not good Basels for those who own both WG SkD and BLRO. Ahem.

Agree. I don't own them but I was not happy to see that at all. Very disrespectful IMO. If I had a 116619 I'd be having second thoughts right now.

Not sure about other WG Sky-d owners, but this year I'm very happy to see that they are discontinuing the WG and the numeral versions completely from the lineup. In my opinion, this makes the WG-Roman/Arabic very, very special and unique, given that they were produced only for 4-6 years, very few were sold and they are the first generation of annual calendar watch from Rolex. I'm just waiting for confirmation from RSC.

ymmv

[Though I admit that going forward I'll be very very careful before buying a wg rolex]

Don't think so. Before Basel '17, Rolex clients could pick up a relatively inexpensive GMT master 2 in SS. It's only complication? A GMT hand *sad clown face* and a bezel that turns BOTH WAYS (OMG) The same Rolex clients had to shell out 4x the price of a GMT2 for a PM Rolex annual calendar that, oh by the way, also has a GMT feature.

Basel '17 was a game-changer since we could now get our hands on a skyd for a little more than a GMT master 2. But you get so much more watch with a SkyD, including the GMT function.

That said, I totally get that the SkyD is not everyone's favorite watch. Some find it too big, some not legible etc. I personally believe that it's Rolex's best watch. It scratched my itch for a Rolex (sold my other one), an annual calendar, a GMT and a white dialed watch.

With my luck, the steel Sub will be released with a blue dial/insert.

Not even the 116619? Oops forgot you already have that one...

I to am worried about Rolex flicking their nose at their WG PM buyers by not making their models as exclusive as they used to be

Kilyung sentiment are felt throughout this Forum...

At least you can buy RG, YG, but for those who only like WG it is a quandary and a real caveat emptor now.

I take it platinum subs and GMTs are probably off Rolex's table now.

Watch, in a few years they'll be putting the glacier blue dial on stainless steel datejust. Wouldn't that be something?
