Rolex prices In Amsterdam
I'm flying into Amsterdam in a couple of weeks...I've read loads about the great prices at Gassan in the airport departure lounge but are the prices in the Rolex shops in the city centre just as cheap? Or is the airport a special case?
Thanks. |

I was looking at at Explorer II about a year ago at Gasan and I think the math worked out to about $7,600 or $7,700 out the door including the tax savings. That was using just an online calculator for EUR to USD. Not sure what the actual exchange rate would be once you ran your card though.

I went to Gassan's 2 weeks ago in the middle of my trip and they wouldn't even acknowledge me. Granted I was wearing a t-shirt when I walked in but still. You might get a better experiences. As far as prices from City Centre and the airport, I remember seeing SS Submariners for the same price but I can't remember exact figure.

I was there not long ago and you can find anything you want as long as you want precious metal.

Not sure what "Granted I was wearing a T-shirt" means, I know guys wearing $40K+ Pateks wearing plain t shirts and sandals. I don't think what you wear should have any implication to how a sales staff treats you. |

You are absolutely correct. However, we are still snobs in certain parts of Europe, as opposed to the US, and dress code does create an initial impression, with some folks. I was in Dusseldorf looking at ALS and the first thing the owner spoke about was my English bespoke Chelsea boots - I assume he felt that they indicated I had the money to look at ALS! I will dress for the occasion (shopping for Rolex), as I enjoy it and this is simply my culture. I work with many other nations and when we travel we often look like chalk and cheese, but for me it's great as I do recognise that underneath the veneer we're all the same and everyone is different!
