Anyone here donate time or money to worthy causes?
The last couple years my wife and I have been donating a small amount of money (few hundred dollars a year) to a community orchestra that my Mom plays oboe and English horn for.
We get our name on the list of donors which is nice but we specifically donate for her chair. I love that she is so into this, she practices almost every day and it really motivates her. She seems very happy to have that purpose in her daily life (granted, she was doing this before we became donors). It is tax deductible too so bonus there! |

I used to teach a yoga class once a week and the studio donated what would have been my pay to the ASPCA.
I also donate to local animal shelters. And my favorite is a local children's hospital that is dedicated to helping kids with cancer. This all makes me super happy.

We donate to several charities thought-out the year. There are so many fantastic organizations that do good things for people. The key is to pick things you are passionate about, research the organization and give whatever you can.
KIVA ASPCA KPBS World Wildlife Foundation Green Peace American National Red Cross and many more... Giving is a wonderful thing. https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=topten https://www.charitywatch.org/top-rated-charities

A few foundations out here. A Women's golfing charity, a school for the mentally challenged, and a school for the under privileged.
All have golf outings which is a nice bonus http://womengolfersgiveback.org/ http://hilltopprep.org/ http://lasalleacademy.net/ These are all links to the charities, no individual beneficiaries except the kids. Hope it doesn't break any rules, if it does. My apologies

I am currently in the process of signing up to become duty counsel to unrepresented litigants at one of the courthouses in my city. I also volunteer in a few mental health initiatives, and act as a mentor to students currently studying law.

I was a nurse for 3 years, and a fire fighter for 15
Hope that counts... But I did get paid! |

I donate time, money, food, and effort to a small church food bank not far from where I live. It's not my church, not even my denomination, but they serve a group of people (mostly immigrants and refugees) so truly in need of help, I dare say I found myself called. Quite rewarding.

I have personally freely offered my time to help many charitable foundations and Patron four charities. Most of my work is within The Maritime sectors but like to be involved with a few Cancer fund raising events plus disabled support groups. The work always gives me a sense of pride and wellbeing that I've played a little part within a team that's made someone's life a little better... Keep up your wonderful work there is nothing more rewarding than knowing your efforts helped to make a little difference.. |

I always give a few hundred pounds a year to charity.
A couple of years ago I had my hair shaved off for cancer. Raised around £4,000 and the hairdresser that did it was a friend of mine who was terminally ill at the time, so it made it more poignant. |

Our main form of giving is raising money for and also donating directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society each year. Blood cancers are prevalent in my wife's family and LLS was a big help to her step mother.
We also donate to Colorado Public Radio and support causes that our friends support such as Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis, Rotary Club, Foothills Animal Shelter, and Children's Hospital. |

I volunteered at my local hospital for many years.
I was even the Auxiliary (volunteer) President for a year. That was too much like a full time job with no pay. |

There’s not a week goes by without a call asking for donation. I regularly donate to the following:
Red Cross, cancer foundation for kids, tickets to local circus for kids, anti drugs campaign and a few others. |

About a dozen or so charities. Company was recently acquired and we now have "company match" so will probably give even more.

My family and I have been donating yearly to Childrens Hospital of Eastern Ontario. We have been involved in many large projects within this hospital as sponsors. This is all for the children, without them, we do not have a future.

Local yes. National likely not. I want the funds to go to the cause and not paying for layers of people.

My wife and I are supporters of local animal shelters donating money and provisions; all of our pets (3 cats) are shelter adoptions.
