Not a trend but encouraging

Visited a couple of dealers today before lunch. Not much around but one was up for sale:

Tied it on and felt good even with the case height. But couldn’t get past the 3 crowns.

The Rolex counters were bare but for a 31mm DJ.

PM if you want to know where to buy it.

Yes, the ask price at AD was $3k off MSRP.

Has any seen the explanation for the “triple crowns” vs. pusher to advance the second TZ?

No, but its why I would never be able to own one either. I have tried them on before the fuss when literally nobody wanted it and it never did anything for me. I found those crowns very uncomfortable.

Thanks for the info Paul

I've tried one as well in the past. Great watch except for the crowns/pushers on the left. I think it would be much better if PP removed them and did the usual with a pin pusher but what do I know lol

Maybe would be a better fit for a lefty.

It sits flat on my wrist and the pushers don’t bother me at all. They’re very easy to adjust for local time when traveling.

On the 5164 it’s same side but fraction of the real estate. I think they really missed the mark on that reference with respect to the crown/pusher design. But to each their own.

Agree - hard to explain the design choice. Porthole trumps roundel first and foremost.

The demand curve tells the tale of to each their own.

I’m no designer. But wouldn’t the classic chrono paradigm have been better?

Yeah. That or they could have embedded the pushers in the opposite side of the case as they did with the aquanaut? Or something similar? Maybe they made too many crowns and needed something to do with them? lol

Very much agree. Guess PP didnt want it to look like a chrono when its clearly not. Who knows

I have it and love it. It's great. I initially was put off by the 3 crowns but now, I see this as part of the character of the piece.

But for the 5164, it's very easy to accidentally push the pushers.

Agree. Without it, it's just like any other pilot watch but with a Patek on the dial.
