I know BP reserves the 40mm size for their special editions. I scooped up a Barakuda and loves it. Simply can’t pull off over 40.

Great pic and great watch! The Barakuda is my favorite Fifty Fathoms after the Hodinkee Milspec.

I am not a big fan of NATO straps. Any suggestions for strap options? 20230623_121013.jpg

Congrats! Likely difficult with the odd lug size unless you try to squeeze a generic 22 mm rubber strap. Hope they have a few strap options (rubber, sailcloth, etc...) in near future.

Can you share any details on the rest of the presentation/package - is it similar to the 50th anniversary in any way?

That's a beautiful watch, the sizing looks perfect on your wrist. I've always thought the FF belongs on a sail cloth strap and agree the NATO isn't the best option.

Zero, but thanks for the link. An extremely disappointing package. Seems they skimped vs. the 50th. No tools, no extra strap, no special display/case. Do we know if it's the same size hex tool as the regular FF to remove the lugs?

Congrats, beautiful watch, the nylon strap is also not my cup of tea. Let’s hope Blancpain will release some nice rubber straps and SS bracelet for this akward lug width.

Exactly, they is really not much extra from other regular releases. I was also hoping it would come with extra straps and tools but nothing. It's not a deal breaker for me as I plan on buying the proper hex tool and will experiment with other straps.
I am happy with the purchase overall and it fits the wrist perfectly.
I will look into the hex tool and once I find it will report here.

I just tried a random 22mm NATO and fits perfectly. I also have an Omega nato strap that fits perfectly also. Looks like 22mm straps will work. 20230623_220131.jpg

Encouraging to hear you are still happy with purchase. Looks like you've had a few BP's. How does it compare to the FF Grande Date?

There's a lot of give with nato straps as they can squeeze easily. Let us know if a 22 mm rubber strap fits as well. Thinking those can be squeezed in.

My series 3 arrived earlier this week.

I’m not a NATO fan, so this will get a sailcloth strap at some point soon. Overall, this is a great release, and the size is perfect.

I was planning to either sell this or my OC3, but I’m having a hard time letting either one go. For now, I’m keeping the 40mm and the 42mm. If it comes down to just one, though, I think this one will win.

Great job, BP!

Congrats! Size looks great on you. Likely way too early, but what do you like more about the new 42 vs your OC3 so far?

I'm not a photographer, but it finally arrived and it's perfect. I tried to get a Barrakuda and a No Rad to no avail. So happy with this, it doesn't look like anything else in my collection and is going to get a lot of wrist time. Looking forward to a sailcloth strap.

Finally got the tools and changed the strap, much better on a sailcloth strap. This strap is 22mm and it fit just fine, it needs a little squeeze and fits perfectly.
I also tried a 22mm rubber strap and it also worked just fine. I will try some nice leather straps next. 20230710_181834.jpg20230710_171153.jpg20230710_160910.jpg

I think Blancpain really need to consider rebooting the Fifty Fathoms in a more wearable size, given the regular successes of each of their annual 40.3 and now 42mm limited edition releases.

I think the latest edition is basically them testing the market. Given the success I think their new direction will be the 42mm. Probably management wanted to test the waters first before changing manufacturing etc.

Good news!

Anybody with the new 42 and the previous 40mm version? Would be great to see some side by side.

Here you go. The 40mm felt a bit small on my wrist but the 42mm is just perfect. 20230629_105333.jpg

Very nice. Agree, the 42 is a great size. It wears so much better than the 45. I can see how the 40 may feel a little small. I've yet to handle a 40 mm FF. Which crown guard do you like between the 2?
