Blancpain rumors?

"Earlier this week I had the opportunity to visit Blancpain and even had the chance to briefly meet Mr. Hayek. On his wrist I noticed a very interesting watch, most likely a prototype for next year's 70th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms.


I can't provide any details, but to me it clearly looked smaller than 45mm and larger than 40mm. When you zoom in you see it apparently is a new 70th Anniversary Fifty Fathoms or at least a prototype of it, like the 2003 special edition.



I got the blessing from Blancpain to share this photo with you, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to provide this promising first impression in our Timezone forum.

If it is smaller, I like that it kept the crown guard profile of the larger 45mm version, rather than the squarer version of the 40mm.
I would also prefer any anniversary fanciness to be on the casebook, rather than the dial...But then I also prefer 45mm.....

Those lugs are oddly straight and do not hug the wrist at all. Gonna be a tough one for smaller wrists.

Received a call from NYC BP Boutique - placed a deposit. Fingers crossed for a 41-42mm 1315 Ti model!

I just spoke with the NY boutique and was advised that BP will be selling these online directly to customers. That will be in January or February. There will be multiple models.

Thanks! Do you mind clarifying? Will they actually have Ti models? Are they limited? Will the direct online sales be the limited editions? So many questions! When they called me they didn't have much details.

Same here, not much info provided about the actual watches except that there will be more than one variant and that it will be sold online. Yes, the online sales is for the anniversary models which will presumably be limited editions. I am pretty sure that there will be more info provided / leacked next month.

Boo. I was going to stop by next week and to get a new strap after my last one disintegrated after a day at some hot springs and thought I'd inquire about the 2023 releases. Guess I'll have to wait to buy online...

Not only do they for some god forsaken reason divide the 210 watches by 3 regions they decide that needs some copy on the dial to confirm.

I don't understand the rhetoric around it's a let down.

We are finally seeing a 42mm watch from Blancpain.

Albeit it's a limited edition and still has the polished case. Other than these attributes I think it's a winner.

Delete the bottom text. Move the depth rating to the bottom. Remove date. Make it brushed titanium and remove the damn case flank script. I don’t need a platinum rotor.

Hopefully we get something like that in black and blue as well unlimited down the road.

Weird 21.5 lug width and no straps/bracelets included other than NATO made with "recycled material"? Might as well give us duct tape and a pair of scissors instead. Also, anyone have any idea what the lug-to-lug length would be? My guess is 47-48mm?

21.5 mm is such a kick in the nuts. At least they didn't use this as an opportunity to downgrade the movement like many other brands recently and it's over 1mm thinner with that same movement so it seems like a mostly positive iteration. Not going to fight tooth and nail for one of the 70 pieces though, will wait for a titanium release. A smaller and lighter FF with the same amazing movement is very exciting.
