I mean before the hype it was well recognized that they were buying their own pieces via auction for their museum. got them in the news for pieces selling for record prices. what was left out was that patek was the buyer.
kind of curious how much the ads in magazines and billboards costs vs buying a few pieces at auction. prob not a bad investment for them |

Those double sealed ones with Christies didn't come from the Salon. Those came from a big AD chain. They have lost couple of stores and selling double sealed Pateks could be a reason

No such thing as Building a Patek AD relationship anymore, PATEK TARGETING ELITE
Second Patek, 5 weeks after requesting it.
First one was a 5905/1A in September. Just a data point that hopefully helps some posters maintain hope and stay patient. |

I feel like life is too stressful to stress about your ability to get a watch. I have fallen victim to this in the past. I would suggest getting a 11.59 or something. It's better to not be taken advantage or stressing about the state of the market.

Non of what OP states is surprising, frankly it’s obvious.
Much of the industry has moved in this direction. It’s necessary for Patek to do some of this as brand strategy is always thinking 5-10 years ahead. |

lol at GB-Man. Hilarious.
Look into two logical fallacies: Strawman fallacy, and false equivalency fallacy. These are the two most common logical fallacies being used by some trying to shut such posts down. |

I read your thread over on the Rolex sub-forum. While I respect your opinion, we have to agree to disagree. Your opinion is valued, but it does not translate to facts. It’s simply a subjective statement influenced by your perception and experience. Smearing dirt on Rolex, Patek and their chain of ADs is simply a futile effort because while there are bad eggs among the ADs, 95% are really keen to get the watches to the right hands. However, when Patek/Rolex can allocate 1-2 pieces of Nautilus 5990/1R or 126500 per AD, it’s essentially a blood bath among all those on the waiting list. As Darwin said - only the fittest will survive. There’s no games here. It’s simply business, nothing personal and you should not take it personally too.

The guy that started this thread was banned. And Horology73 is the same guy in my opinion.
Same MO. Same way he states his opinions as facts. This time around he has a green dial 5711 with a diamond bezel. |

I think the important thing to remember is that adding to your purchase history each day keeps the poors away!

No question the Patek market is booming for their SS and sports models. I suspect customers are buying other Patek products to create relationships. With a relatively small production, all the demand can easily wipe out supply quickly which it has done. But Patek makes enough watches that a small shift in customer tastes away from high horology could fill up AD's cases quickly. The used prices on most Patek's is now below retail. Patek's value retention is quite good, but it is still a losing proposition on many models. Not a smart move to alienate some customers as OP suggests. We all need everybody in business.
