Full ceramic rolex

I was thinking about how awesome a full ceramic rolex would be. I had seen pictures of the fully ceramic AP RO and thought it would also look great in other models. (AP looks amazing btw see pic). Who else would like to see a full ceramic rolex? Which model would you like to see it done with?

My pick would be a full ceramic Daytona.

Seems weird to me. I probably wouldn’t want to see that.

I like that AP, but I don’t know how nice a full ceramic Rolex would look. At least I think it would look weird in the traditional Rolex GMT, Sub, SeaDweller case shape. I say this because I really like the Omega Planet Ocean, but the Ceramic ones leave me a bit cold.

Hard pass. I wouldn't care for any model in full ceramic.

Tudor has a full ceramic chronograph, the Fastrider Black Shield. Quite nice and dirt cheap considering.

I dig it and I definitely think there would would be a market for it but it seems that Rolex is determined to avoid satisfying this potential market. Never say never but Rolex really is all about shiny stuff.

ceramic case sea dweller 43 with silicone rubber strap and green dial and bezel different green than the hulk, would be something.

no way, ceramic bezel is the limit due to scratches but a case where it will get banged around? Expensive fix instead of just a polish. Hard pass.

Definitely not Rolex Oyster watches, which are noted first and foremost for being tough and dependable.
Ceramics are notoriously the opposite of that, they are fragile materials by definition.

Full ceramic Cellini? Perhaps
Still, experimenting with case materials is not really in the brand DNA.

The Daytona is too pretty to be smacked around anyway. I think this is a good idea. Obviously as an extra version. Not to drop the SS line.

A full ceramic watch may look well wicked. But the problem with ceramic is that it can split or shatter if hit right. This could look even more wicked, particularly before all the blood is wiped off.

Ceramic not so much for Rolex, I agree.

However I just had my first full on summer experience with a ceramic watch which never left my wrist. Have been jumping in the pool, boating, beaching, go karting, going all around in an unusual all out very active summer lifestyle including many flights and airport security checks totally worry and care free...my (big 44mm) ultra exposed ROO ceramic has absolutely not a single scratch! I am very impressed!

I am sold on ceramic and will probably put my name down for a RO PC all black sometimes around 2021 to travel with.

I can say it now: ceramic is fantastic ;-)

You had me at ceramic

If Rolex introduce a material similar to Panerai’s Carbotech, I might consider it. I just wish they could produce it in something other than all black.

This thread should be moved to the Rolex segment of the forum. Not really an AP question.
For ceramic maybe a DD

I posted it to rolex. Not sure why it was moved here....

I only posted the AP picture as an example of a full ceramic watch.

Those look a million times better in real life - no fault of the photographer, that black/green just isn’t photogenic.
