Does anyone have any experience with their crown crossthreading as you try and put the crown back after setting the watch? Is this something warranty will cover to correct? It was a very minor issue once out of every 15-20 sets now it almost take 5-10 attempts every time I set the piece to get the crown to thread down evenly to make it water tight again. I feel like I saw a thread in this in the past but was unable to locate it via search.

If it is cross threaded, I can’t help, but when I tighten anything threaded, including a watch crown, I back up counter clockwise a bit first, and then proceed in a clockwise direction to screw it in.

There are different cross-threading sensations you can feel; some are mild and almost like a barely noticeable grain-of-sand grinding sensation, and some result in more-pronounced "clicking" sensations where you know something is really wrong. I had the latter and it was fixed under warranty; a very reasonable approx 4 week turnaround time. I'm not sure of the details of fixing my particular watch, parts needed, etc. I am not certain what caused it though I am very careful about winding and crown positioning, etc. AP treated me great, smooth process, no questions asked, their typical excellent people handling things for me.

Easy answer is just sent off to have it looked it. Sometimes even in border cases they will still pick up under warranty so might as well have it fixed under warranty. If not probably just crown tube and partial water pressure service anyways.
