I thought we (England) were abysmal and were out played. The one point is better for us than the USA though, it means that barring a great disaster we are through to the next round.

You can always swap your England jersey for your Eagles jersey Sixers and Flyers both play in a few hours, as well

I was disappointed that the Phillies lost the World Series but gutted that Philadelphia Union lost by penalties in the final against LA, Gareth Bale equalised for LA in the last minute of extra time.

I didn't think England was "abysmal" but that the US just out played them and were the better team. There was a significant shift in momentum when Grealish was subbed in for Sterling, in favor of England. It's beyond me why Kane or Sterling start ahead of Grealish. I was sitting next to folks from England and asked the same question, they said they didn't get it either.

England is through, congrats! Iran is going to be a tougher opponent for the US than initially planned. Plus if they just tie the US they are through, US has to win.

Well Safegate is back, no Foden our best player and instead brings on Henderson. Surprised he didn't bring on another defender and another keeper just to be sure we didn't lose.

Maybe not the best showing by England but they did look more polished side and dangerous in the box.
The US was more gritty and controlled the midfield. This felt like a win for the US.

In the end, the English knew they didn't need to win this game and the next for that matter to go through. It's a long road and pacing themselves will be key to moving on.

Iran will be a tough team to beat.

I know, I had a free bet builder for 4 events so bet on England to win with Sterling, Kane and Saka to hit the target, so I put a curse on them and don't know if even one of them had a shot on target.

only thing that can redeem from that awful display by england will be a game from Messi today. Neymar out til knockouts and Cristiano Ronaldo diving for penalties when portugal are playing terrible is not really great for football. Mbappe is going to Mbappe.

Since my brother did one of those DNA ancestry tests, I now know I’m primarily of English descent. The downside is my genetic code has probably been sold to the government and corporations, but the upside is I now have an excuse to root for England if the USA is eliminated

Watching France was the most fun I’ve had yet this tournament. I haven’t seen all the games but of the 3-4 I have their attack was the most entertaining.

Apparently the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia is so happy with the win over Argentina that every player will receive a $460k Rolls Royce Phantom.

I did one of these. I was adopted and had no idea what my ancestry was, this was back when adopted babies had zero relationship with their birth mothers. I am 60% English/Irish and 30% French/German. Could’ve guessed that looking in the mirror but good to know. Anyway, using the same logic I can root for either England, France or Germany if the US loses. Thanks 23 and Me!

Looks like another incredibly dangerous, borderline apocalyptic scene in California. Is that a zombie horde? Is your Rolex safe?

Luckily while riding my bike around LA I usually wear this outfit and have done pretty well. ..........except for the heat stroke.

I don't know why you guys want to support England, I have to but would rather back the USA the way no-plan-B Southgate is killing our team again, so painful to watch.

France and Mbappe are looking good, while Argentina and Messi are looking bad and even worse, uninterested...

And that was the kick he needed, great strike!

A tale of two halves: great team play in the first half with a so-so Mbappé, with individual talent taking over in the second half.

So far, so good.

I was saying he had a so-so first half. His second half was much better.

Griezmann had a great match throughout.

Exactly, he listened and shaped up just as I was writing it. Still don't see much from Argentina, pretty average squad I always thought, should not have been 2nd favs.

so happy argentina got their stuff together a bit. still think romero and tagliafico are the other 2 that should be playing. montiel is better than he showed yesterday and de paul needs to get in proper form/shape. Prefer Parades in general but guido was decent. happy messi finally got a decent look. should beat poland glik is a weak link at the back, 34yo benevento CB? eesh

2022 World Cup Thread ⚽️ Dubai -

Nice effort Belgium. The studs on that team should be embarrassed with that display.
