Help with pictures

I know I’m probably being thick, but I’m trying to add pictures to a new thread from my iPad. Every time I do it, it’s saying attachment is too big, I’ve tried editing the picture so it’s smaller, but to no avail. Please help!!

There are two ways to add images.

First is to use a hosting service and link them from there.

The second is to upload them. As you have found out, you need to resize the image to upload it. If you cannot do this then try using the app Tapatalk and it will handle this for you.

When you say hosting service, any recommendations?

You sometimes need to play around with whatever image hosting site has for their formats that they spit out after you upload a photo. Generally you want to paste the link between the following tags:

[img]<insert URL of image[/img]

Note that it might take a few tries to get it right, depending on what image hosting site you use and what link(s) are provided to you for your image. Going to the "Preview Post" section can give you a preview to ensure you are getting it to show up properly before you submit a reply and/or new thread.

Anytime I want to post pictures, I just use Tapatalk. I found this to be the easiest way to do so.

This is just a test as I too have had issues figuring this out.

Okay. What I'm going isn't working. Can you use Imgur images/links?

Help with pictures

When using the hosting sites you must choose the correct way to insert the image via the Forums bulletin board code. (aka BB Code)

Best is to use the IMG insert technique.

And make sure you are inserting the exact addy for the photo. The Forum image rendering will determine sizing like Mifune’s image above.

I will add a 3rd technique since the OP is using an iPad. Just install TapaTalk if you expect to do a lot of images in your future.

You can add pictures with just your iPad but it's a bit tricky.

You go to reply to thread, open, advanced, go down to manage attachments, it says, choose file, and you go to photo library, and you find the picture in your photo library, at the bottom of the picture you chose it says actual size, and you hit that, and it brings up, small, medium, large or actual size.

Then you choose which one which I think is generally medium, but try all of them, and in the corner it says USE, then you're back to the choose file window and push the upload button and then shows the the current attachment, then in the left top corner it says close this window, which you push. Then you're back to the message you want to post.

If the picture was too large it would tell you in the current attachment window and you go back and chose a different size like small etc.

Hope this helps.
