If this can happen to Shreve, this can happen to any AD. Building AD relationship seems meaningless now, especially if you just started. I definitely won’t do it anymore, not anytime soon anyway.

For most of us the better bet is to try smaller ADs closer to home and ideally away from the most affluent areas on the planet.

Yeah makes a lot of sense I guess. Geneva, London + paris must have the crazy rich - sometimes I get carried away and think enthusiasm and getting lucky might change something

Plus, I get to beef up my buying history knowing Patek won’t ever cut Tiffs out of their equation.

Nice! Is the 5172G the new Salmon dial version? That would be amazing with the “special sauce”.

Wow sucks to hear. Shreve always treated me well, got my first and only Patek from them and they have come through for me with my Rolex asks.

I still want to give them my business for other brands and jewelry, but at the same time I want to at some point have a shot at a 5712, which unless I start building a relationship with Kerns or Fourtane will never happen.

Just sucks that Patek would axe such a long standing dealer. No one is safe honestly

Hmmm… that’s interesting. I thought all of the 5172g from Tiffany had the stamp. I collect mostly stamped Pateks and was kicking around asking for a 5172g.

Special Sauce=Tiffany stamp

Thought you mentioned that the SA pulled some strings to get you those references with the Tiffany stamp?

All of the smaller market Patek buyers, myself included, should be very concerned about this development.

A salmon 5172 just released. A soso piece is now the new grail.

Ha, every maker has a salmon and green. They seem to be the magic color ways. I gotta catch up with the lingo around here.

the salmon 5172 is delicious

I think I'm in the minority here but I don't like the fleshy color of salmon dial. The 5172G with the blue dial is a great piece IMO.

Suprised Shreve lost their AD status. They have always prided themselves as having one of the longest standing relationships with Patek, over 100 years if my memory serves me correctly.

Further, I question if this has to do with Patek opening a Salon, as Fourtaine became an AD in Carmel 6 months ago. The whole thing seems very odd…

Been hearing whispers from multiple people (including Shreve SA) about Patek boutique/ salon in the Bay Area - unsure what that would mean for Tiffany and more importantly CH premier and kerns

You mean a Patek Owned Salon as Geneva/London/Paris? That will be extremely interesting. At least a chance to try on pieces before making a decision (and hopefully someone to size my watches without sending to NY )

If Patek is planning on SF salon then should be one in NYC as well. Possibly Salon in NYC and SF opening at the same time??

Doubtful. Tiffany is well underway with its new PP salon in the 57th street flagship. Bucherer just redid the Time Machine and WoS opened both Soho and Hudson Yards in recent years. When you include Wempe, PP has actually increased the number of dealers in NYC.

Maybe it will be like the new boutique in Miami. I saw that Patek opened a mono brand store together with local AD

At this point it has been confirmed by multiple people that 100% Shreve lost Patek status and will no longer be selling Patek thru their stores. Not sure details matter all that much since it will not change the decision / outcome. Very sad for sure, but Patek made the decision.

I think what Tiffany is building is not quite a salon since Salons are directly owned by Patek.

That is technically correct, although Tiffany refers to the NYC location as a salon. There are usually a few historic pieces on loan from the Patek museum, which differentiates it from other ADs.

There is usually a reason why a long standing AD is no longer an AD. Most of the time, we will never find out the reason, although insiders probably know.

I remember a pleasant visit to Shreve back in 2019. It was a quiet day there and I had a nice long chat with the store manager about Patek and changes happening to the watch industry. I wasn't there to inquire about a SS Patek and the manager knew I was a genuine collector since I had been to Geneva on a factory tour.

I’m getting a 5205G on Saturday from Kerns and I know they just got a shipment - buddy bought an ellipse.

Owner says obviously that they are keeping PP for now but who knows?!?!?

Haven’t talked to CH Premier in a while since they blew me off lately
