Day Date Platinum Ice Blue….Impulse Buy

Hey guys, I am traveling and just randomly stumbled upon an AD they had the platinum DD 40 in ice blue with fluted bezel in stock….I had absolutely no interest in DD before, but when I tried this on I was mesmerized. So beautiful and so freaking heavy….I loved it. It also is less than $60k with VAT refund, so I was super tempted….but it’s still a lot of money obviously. I told the AD to give me until tomorrow morning to decide.

Is this a watch that can be worn casually? I mainly wear casual clothes and my work is casual attire.

IMO any white metal watch can be worn casually/daily. I don't consider a DD a dress watch. It's still a sports watch to me. A dress watch is thin and on a leather strap.

Get it and daily it!

Wow, you have such a good luck, that is gorgeous timepiece and I think MSRP in the US would be around $63k+tax. If you love it, buy it now. This watch can be worn daily and goes with everything.

I would love to have it.

I wouldn't do an impulse buy of this magnitude. Well, it depends on what 60k USD mean to you. It's a sought-after watch. If you love it and the 60k won't make you lose sleep, go for it.

Definitely can be worn with casual attire. It's a great looking reference, if it wont cut into your In-N-Out burger budget to much it's one I would get!

I think it is an absolutely spectacular reference. My personal grail piece. Yes I believe it can be worn in casual situations since it's a while metal. Still has a lot of bling factor but definitely not as crazy as a yellow gold model would be. I wear my fluted jubilee Datjust is casual situations with no problem, so I can't see why it would be much different with that piece.

But aside from all that, it's just an incredible watch, and you are getting a discount on tip of it. If you can afford it, I say GO FOR IT!!!

Ha! Maybe? We do the print work for In N Out cup graphics, may need to give a discount to help him out since we all support each other.

What great luck. If you can afford it, go for it. I suppose it doesn't hurt to walk into ADs - I had given up doing so.

Great watch. If you can afford to add, you should. It is a great daily driver.

How much is it after you declare it and pay the relevant tax at home?

Thanks everyone! I have decided to go for it tomorrow morning! Hopefully it will still be available since he said they won’t technically hold it for me. Will report back!

You are in the wrong place if you want people to talk you out of spending $60k on a watch.

Congrats, looking forward to photos of that grail.

I doubt it will still be there tomorrow. If you really want it, get it now.

Agree. I wouldn't wait. These don't pop up often. I've only seen one on TRF
