1560 performance

Ladies and Gents,

Looked out my 1016 today (even with that Sub minute hand it's a favourite) and did the usual time-set and couple of winds before screwing the crown back down and going about my morning. In the first hour, watch gained 4-5 minutes. Uh-oh, magnetized? Reset. Second hour, gained 2-3 minutes. Reset. Last few hours...no discernible gain or loss, seems to be bang on.

I remember last time I put this watch on, same thing. At first I thought it was magnetized...but then it calmed down to its regular excellent timekeeping after about three hours.

I don't have a timegrapher...I'm sure one of you knows the answer to this conundrum though, so here I am asking - what's up with that?

Have you ever tried giving it a thorough manual wind (20-30 turns) instead of just a couple of turns.

That was my thought too. When I last had it serviced I didn't have the mainspring replaced, and it may be that at low states of wind it runs a bit hot...I'll try that next time, I bet you're right and it'll keep good time from the get-go if on full wind. For now of course it's fully wound from being on the wrist all day so I'll just enjoy it until I get a hankering to wear one of his brothers instead.
