Small "extra" crown on Jubilee clasp

There has been some discussion here and on other forums lately, regarding an extra, Rolex coronet stamping found in the lower right corner on some Jubilee clasps. Some of these were identified as counterfeit, and rightly so.

Last week, there was a thread posted here depicting one of these bands that was identical to a Jubilee band that I had in my possession which contained the same markings which I believed to be 100% genuine based on the font, scrollwork, stampings, metal, weight, and workmanship. The only difference that I could tell between the "double coronet" Jubilee band and the most common of the Jubilee bands (without the double coronet stamping) was a slight variation in the scrollwork (which was minor) and, of course, the extra, smaller coronet. I examined this band forensically with the other Jubilee bands which confirmed my opinion that the "double coronet" band was genuine. (I even examined the screw-in link pins from the "double coronet" Jubilee band and the other genuine Jubilee band. The pins were identical except for approximately 1mm difference in length.)

The other day, I had the "double coronet" Jubilee band examined by experts from Rolex, who CONFIRMED THAT THE BAND IS GENUINE. Accordingly, I learned that these bands were produced from the 1970's, 1980's and early 1990's by Rolex and, based on how little they show up, they were produced in small quantities. The extra, smaller coronet may also be found on the ladies version of the Jubilee band. As far as the oyster band goes, this "double coronet" was not on those bands according to them.

This was probably one of the earliest Rolex bands counterfeited, as it is has been over 30 years since it was initally manufactured.

If you run across one of these bands...WATCHOUT...it could be real, or it could be counterfeit.

...a big THANK YOU, Springer...

...for the follow-up and sharing it here!

...like you, I do beleive these to be somewhat on the RARE side.

...I have one that is in very good shape, that came on a DJ, from the second owner, whom stated that it was the original band for the watch and had never been replaced. GUESS I will hang on to it, considering it's RARITY.

...I recently noticed one on a Tudor Sub that Jeff Hess had listed and it seems that there have been several surface of late on the bay.

Stan.

Err buddy Springer...truly sorry...Orchi believes there's little possibility
that those clasps could be genuine...

Orchi has since seen too many of them consistently found with
aftermarket bracelets from Italy n Taiwan...during those era.

Don't shoot the messenger!!!!! The one pictured is genuine, but, as I noted, there are also fake ones out there that could or could not have the extra clasp coronet.

Jubilee bracelet - genuine or replica?

Hi everyone

I came across this Rolex Jubilee bracelet and wanted your advice please. It has the markings 'Patented & Registered' and 'Swiss Made' on the left, 'Steelinox' and '62510H' on the right, along with the small coronet marking and the letter 'A'.

I have attached a photo but it is not so easy to capture. Can aynone give me advice if this is a fake or genuine. I have my reservations to be honest, as the writing does not seem to be as defined as I would have thought. But I am aware there are some bracelets around with the 'small coronet marking'.

Unfortunately I do not have the end pieces that were with the bracelet.

You feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

I too have the small coronet

Well, I bought my watch new from a Rolex dealer in Palm Beach Fl. in 1978. It's a GMT 1675 pepsi SS and it came with a jubilee band - #62510H. with the small coronet on the far right side with the letter "D" above it. Mine is the all flat backed link band unlike the one in photo in farinamoss's post. This watch has always been in my possession so I believe it to be the real deal. I also bought a Sub oyster band #93150 and a black bezel insert so I can change the look once in a while, 30+ years is to long for me to be looking at anything without change. New to the forum and love all the good info on here.

Thanks Ed. Beware though, there are also counterfeit versions of them too. Thanks again for the info on your band.

Thanks Springer, Thought I'd post a photo. I checked my punch papers and I bought the GMT in 1980 not 78 as I remembered. I'm going to take it to a AD to have them check it, now that I'm not %100.

Your band looks genuine Ed. Be careful while you're at the dealer, they might try and sell you a new watch !!!

Thanks for the input. So true about the dealer Springer, but I'd really rather have a new "old" watch. Like maybe a TT 1675!

My old Jubilee band #62510 is identical to yours except mine has a letter "E" (not "D") above it. Mine too, is the real deal.

Amazing!! My very FIRST Rolex purchased brand new from an AD way back in Oct. 1980, was a TT DJ 16013, serial no.6308XXX.

Main concern about fake claps

This is the main concern on fake clasps.

Also if the stamping is not sharp or missing corners it also is fake most of the times.

Also take in consideration of counting the fine adjustments holes in the clasp
The clasp has 7 holes for micro adjustments. Fake ones often have 6 or less (Gaby)

Awesome information. I didn't realize this until you posted it. Thanks. Well, my 1601 Jubilee is real, but no extra coronet I can live with that.

Why? The question is... is the bracelet in the second set of pics legit? Obviously, the first one was fake...

This thread is old I know, but to add to the body of literature in the affirmative my '82 jubilee datejust also has the little coronet and the correct Rolex stamping.
