1969 Daytona Paul Newman
I just acquired this watch and was wondering if anyone can tell me how rare this particular configuration is for a "Paul Newman" Daytona. It is a ref# 6241 ser# 2084xxx, circa 1969. It is in 14k yellow gold. The dial is black with gold subs and a black bezel. Let me know what you think. I think it is a great looking watch!
Thanks in advance! ironwood |

No, I am curious to know how rare it is in this configuration. I do not know how many were made in 14K yellow with black dial and gold subs. I have never seen one quite like it.
Thanks ironwood |

I think the very definition of 95% of posts on a forum like this is 'fishing for attention'...watches are posted - then comments are made. Ease up on Ironwood...I think it's a legit question.
Ironwood - Regarding that point, sorry, I can't help, but I'm sure there are many on TRF that can. Great looking watch BTW & welcome to the forum. Cheers. |

Thanks moby33! I am sorry if I offended Frank 21. I love Rolex watches. Here is another watch that I own. It is a 1966 Sub ref# 5513 (meters first dial). Another great looking Rolex!
Thanks agian! |

Wow, those were so yanked from this page Link Just scroll down to "5513" and "Daytona".
Next time you want to pawn watches off as your own, maybe you could at least host the images instead of just stealing the property tag from someone else.

I know but he did say i "Just aquired" them.
I don't know and i am not that bothered. It just seems pointless posting this if he did not have it also i don't see serial numbers on those other pics- are they made up?

Waste of time
I posted this watch with what I considered a legitimate question. I am sorry I ever came to this public forum. The responses I have received to this point have been, to say the least, well... discouraging (as well as rude). I had hoped to gather some information about a great watch. It is obvious I have come to the wrong place. I apologize for intruding on your space.
And by the way, you acquire a Rolex, you buy a Timex (IF YOU DID NOT KNOW). Now Chozn1, I have no idea what you mean by "Wow, those were so yanked from this page Link Just scroll down to "5513" and "Daytona". And this next part I am confused about..."Next time you want to pawn watches off as your own, maybe you could at least host the images instead of just stealing the property tag from someone else. " You don't have a clue. The images are hosted on my server reddogdesign.com. I am a collector of fine watches, wrist watches and pocket watches. If you doubt it, SORRY! I am offended by the responses I have received on this forum. I am sorry I ever posted on this forum. I could give the serial number but that would allow a low life like you (not all member of the forum) to scam someone else. (sorry to the honest members of the forum). If you want to see more pics, I can take them. Unfortunately, I am, to say the least...disappointed. It is a great watch. I am sorry I ever came here to your forum. ironwood |

I'm also a little disappointed about the way a new member was treated on this thread and would like to offer a public apology to Ironwood on behalf of those who agree with my view.
I am guessing that he knew that the watch was somewhat special but wanted to get the full lowdown on it. He would have also, no doubt, been able to post current pictures to prove that the watch was in his hands.

BTW Welshwatchman if you want current pics, OK. However, all I wanted to do was try to obtain some info on my watch. Your posters are trying to make me out as a scammer or some kind of criminal. Unfortunate to say the least.

And this is to TimeToGo
This is really pretty bad grammar. Alrighty then... where were the pictures taken from? .... The photos were taken at a family gathering on 9/28/08. You now have more info than you deserve to now. Great watch! Thanks for your comment! |

Sorry. I am done. The people on this forum are not right.
Thanks for your question. All I wanted was some help on the rarity of the piece and I got a ton o' grief. Here is a pic though. Dark Calf Skin. Pretty Cool. Hope you like it. |

I never asked for a serial #. My fullest apology if you really have that watch. I'd also be interested in the day date on that auction site so PM me as I'd like to know when the auction is taking place and if it's online. It said "auction" after the slash anyway, so I'm assuming that's what it is. Out of shear curiosity, do you usually buy watches and then find out about them?

Sorry, as they say... "Pound Sand" You are rude and I will have none of it...
Your quote follows: "Wow, those were so yanked from this page Link Just scroll down to "5513" and "Daytona". "Next time you want to pawn watches off as your own, maybe you could at least host the images instead of just stealing the property tag from someone else. " JB |

nice watch.
seems like you are a little too defensive to say the least. I would also like to see some more pictures of your watch! *perhaps with a "Ironwood" signature on paper beside it? |

I am sorry if I come across as defensive. This has not been a great first experience on The Rolex Forum. All I wanted was some info on a great watch. I am sorry I asked.

Just starting to learn about Daytona's so no help there. I like your 5513 and bezel inserts are still easy to find with matching patina of the pearl. I just picked up two for my 5513 that has a newer bezel insert. If I may ask, what other vintage Rolexs do you own as I have started down the vintage path. I picked up a 5512 and 1675 this year and like them both very much. |

Ironwood,
My comment was not directed at you. It was meant as a response to the comment "stealing them," I wondered if the person that made this comment knew where the pictures were taken from. Forgive my grammar, since it seems to have offended you also. I guess it will not matter what this forum has to offer to you now because it will most likely offend YOU each and every time. I am very sorry you had a bad experience on your first and possibly last post. And you are also correct, you have a GREAT looking watch. I can not respond to the other comments made to you, I can only address mine.... Hope you stick around! |

Having said what I said it is time to get over yourself Ironwood.
This is a great site and you will have a good time here if you can put this minor mishap behind you.

i agree overall and i know this is my opinon but i feel-, he was treated like a criminal just for asking a few questions. i would not be happy if that was me- and i am sure most of us would not be either

Criminals are tazed and thrown in the slammer. I mouthed off at the guy since the post didn't add up and the pics were from another site, so let's not get too dramatic. I've apologized and got told to pound sand, and maybe rightfully so. But between all the posts he's made on here and the PM he sent me, I'm sure he'll shut me up.
TimeToGo I put the link in my initial response. And with that, I bid this thread a goodbye.

My apologies to all for being defensive. Here is one more pic of the "Paul Newman" Daytona. It is really a nice watch and if anyone can address my initial question it would be appreciated.

I can't speak to its scarcity, but I've never seen one in real life, and I have to say it IS a stunning watch! Welcome to TRF.

That's obviously photoshopped.
I'm kidding! What a beauty. I'd imagine it's rather rare and would definitely hang onto it.

Great watch I have never seen one... I am sure that there was very limited production... Hell it may be Newmans own... No pun intended hence the salad dressing name....
At any rate you have a real beauty there. |
