Tiffany AD

ADs discount some of the less in demand references. Does Tiffany do the same or do I assume a dress watch at MSRP is the cost of the T stamp?

There are no retail discounts given on Pateks sold through Tiffany. MSRP is the rule and not the exception at all Tiffany retail locations for Patek.

They can call it a discount but it’s still way over market price for a pure commodity.

I know that. But u know what... the wife loves the blue box and so does the kid. I don’t let it get too far out of hand but I know how much I’m losing. Diamonds we keep forever.

The value proposition is worst now. The Owners of DeBeers use to tell me that man made diamonds were not going to be an issue...for years.... now they have their own line to try and protect the natural stones.

Diamonds generally are meh in my mind. But that box is what makes the ladies happy.

Need to buy the Tiffany box off Aliexpress and put in your own jewellery. The rappaport clearly shows what sort of prices youd be looking at. I couldnt find myself paying a 150%+ mark-up just for a blue box. You know how many boxes you can get for that? Probably build a house out of blue boxes.

Natural vs man-made diamonds have been a hot topic recently. Man-made diamonds have become so good they threaten the existence of the idea and image that "weddings" = natural diamonds. DeBeers are losing their foothold for something they created.

It’s actually quite funny. Apart from the notion that diamonds are investments, a notion that’s false, there’s also the inconsistency in DeBeer’s position. When lab-grown diamonds were first being made, DeBeers countered with the argument that such diamonds would never approach the perfection of their diamonds. But now that lab-grown diamonds are being produced close to perfection, DeBeers’s argument is that the imperfections make a diamond unique and valuable.

You can’t have it both ways.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for a discount at Tiffany’s.

I’m waiting to hear back now on a watch I’m after — and am honestly not even interested in a discount if they get me the watch - in a reasonable amount of time.

No breaks at Tiffanys. They might occasionally discount diamonds or perhaps watches for their really big clients. Think spending million+ or six figures regularly.

Don't you dislike losing money? Why you waste money on your fam with such things then? Wouldn't be a gift wrap on your palm enough to pleasure the "lady"? I mean it should, if she really loves you and not the money...

Tiffany does have sales occasionally but they will not talk discounts on Patek. In New York, none of the Patek ADs are much on discounts. Too big a walk in trade from world wide tourists. No need to.

Thank you all...a great thread.

I got an answer to my question

I got to see a newbie flame out and get banned.

And I learned a thing or two about lab grown diamonds.

I was not aware that they have sales. Is this new? I’ve been shopping at Tiffany’s for 30 years and can’t recall them having a sale. I do know that they make exceptions for their top clients but only on a case by case basis.

I can really only comment from my experience. It was about 1990. My wife and myself were visiting NYC and went into Tiffany's. At that time they carried AP. They had a solid yellow gold RO which was $15,500 marked down to $9,500 as a sale item. I could not resist and bought my first nice watch engraved and all.

That’s probably when they were liquidating AP. Do you still have it? That would be a hell of a piece.

Regrettably no. Two issues it was severely scratched in an accident, I fared better. It was repaired but never the same. Additionally, it developed self winding issues. which I had AP look at a few times, which were never completely resolved. The watch would just stop and this was only watch at the time worn everyday. This watch has the original winding system which was improved in later models. After the headaches I moved on from it. A shame really.

More interestingly. Going to be interesting where the placement of the Patek salon will be temporarily as they renovate the flag ship

No, big question is what the limited edition will look like when they reopen the flagship.

Some people do not understand the concept. If your wife likes something at Hermes, Tiffany, etc., then you buy it or let them buy it.

Yes, you can buy a cheaper bag, diamond earrings, etc. But it is like a Rolex: you can buy other watches that can keep more accurate time, you can buy fakes, etc. But that is not why you buy Rolex.

Stamped Pateks are great. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Tiffany Patek. No discount but on so many models the double stamp just fits perfectly. 5396 and any dress watch with moon phase sub dial. Plus Kelly Yoch is cool.

Aesthetically I prefer both modern and vintage Patek w/o stamp, no matter if it is Tiffany, Beyer, Gübelin, or Serpico y Laino.

In my neck of the woods Tiffany and the stamp seem to be not as popular as in the US. There is a small jewelry-only Tiffany store in my town, but they wouldn't rank high on my list if I was in the market for some jewelry.

Would I swap a bread and butter 5711 into one w the Tiffany stamp? Sure if I wanted to sell, but in reality I'd have to think very hard as it is a keeper.
