Franck Muller 6850 CC MC AT
Having now had the watch back and repaired for over a week after a troubling purchase with Chronoexpert (see Buyers & Sellers for the facts), I felt it a good time to write a review.
I have always liked the older FM watches, particularly the complications which I find fascinating. In the past I have had 2 larger 8880 models; 3 hands and chronograph. Despite the size, they were the most comfortable to wear. Lockdown made me look again at my watches and I wanted to focus on watches I really like wearing, after all, not going out, who else is going to see them? This particular model I had lusted over 20 years previously, the guilloche dial, triple date and chronograph. When the opportunity arose, I jumped. I’m glad I did. To the details; case size is approx 39x34mm, stainless steel, sliver white guilloche dial and signature exploding Arabic numbers in black. The outer track features red date numbers and blue seconds markers.Day & Month in 2 windows at the top and pointer date (all adjusted by side buttons). I believe month is the only button that needs a manual push. Chronograph features 30 minute & 12 hour counters with central seconds counter, far more useful than those with just a minute counter. The movement is I believed based on the Valjoux 775x, a reliable and easy to service movement. It fits so comfortably on my wrist of approx just below 7”, in steel is not heavy at all, and the dial is mesmerising. The complications are genuinely useful and as a smart/dress watch fits perfectly under a cuff. To summarise; not a watch for everyone, but incredible value for a piece that comes from a good phase in FM production.

Dial looks a bit empty.

Very nice watch, would like to have a calendar too. I assume the 10 o'clock push button is for the month you mentioned. Also the dials' blue and red color combo looks really good in my opinion.

Thank you for the kind comments. The 10 o'clock is for the day, and buttons on the other side either side of the crown are for month & date.

Great looking watch. Back in the day I wanted one but never got around to buying one. I just kind of moved on. I might see what is around.
