Would you pay more for a correctly oriented crown?

Before clicking into the thread, I thought you meant the crown on the dial was off-centre to the triangle. Turned out it’s the logo orientation on the side crown you were referring to - it’s a slight overboard with perfection.

It does not change over time.

What may happen is the gasket changes, flattens, or is destroyed; then the crown will seat differently by whatever change there is in the gasket. The crown will always engage in the exact same thread, and turn the exact same distance along the threaded tube, it cannot deviate.

Perfectly aligned Daytona.
Certainly must be worth double the double premium currently in the grey market.
Is this an MK51?
Out of my Rolex watches and wife’s, first time I have ever checked.

My Air King is perfect North. My new DJ41 is like yours going East... I notice when looking at pictures of the DJ41 that most are facing East...

It has reached the point that I only read these posts for amusement. I can't possibly understand how this could annoy anyone. But to answer your question - based on this, and hundreds of other posts - you are not the only one. There are millions of you OCD types around the world. I can't imagine living like.

It's the new age we live in.
Gone are the days when one would go and choose a watch to their liking simply based on how it looks on the wrist, style, comfort, etc, etc.
Now days everything's analysed to the enith degree and chosen based on a set of specifations rather than personal preference.
Common sense also seems to be in deficit and very rarely do practical realities come into play.
Expectations are strongly formed around imagery as though it's an absolute.
Hense we have the current situation which is less than ideal where the logo on the Winding crown on a Rolex watch doesn't line up like in the pictures causing individuals grief in their futile pursuit of perfection.

Of course, it doesn't help when Rolex start making watches like the PM Skydweller and making dreams come true

I don’t find myself to be ocd at all. I spent allot of money on a watch that has a reputation of being held to a higher standard and was just wondering if the different crown positions are normal. If you bought a new car and the hood emblem was sideways would you react the same way?

I have never even noticed where the crown stops on any of my Rolex’s!

That is not entirely correct, as a few people have noticed. A guy I know went swimming and came back for a drink with friends. A buddy noticed the crystal was half full, which in this case, was not good.

They then noticed the crown was not screwed in.

This is something that bothers me a lot too. In all of Rolex’s marketing and print work the crowns are always perfect but in reality they almost always not. They should fix it. Cheaper watch brands have figured it out why can’t Rolex do it.

I don’t really care about it anymore. I’m more concerned not getting the watch I wanted. Should you have pass on the purchase on this little detail. ?

Unfortunately, you're not the only person annoyed by this completely trivial and inconsequential non-issue.

I am very thankful I am not one of those people.

If you read the older thread I linked to, you’ll see Philip Ridley chime in saying that the current replacement crowns all align either perfectly or perfectly upside down.

No you are not the only one. Not sure how established you are as a collector - Assuming relatively new considering your post count (apologies if I am mistaken). Most are same way when they first start (as was I). That also goes for crown screw position, misaligned bezels, Cyclopes mag variances, etc...

Not sure when it happened, but I just don’t care anymore. That also goes for accuracy and scratches.

Not sure why people are saying this is a OCD none issue. In my opinion it would be like Porsche putting the emblem on the hood of their cars crooked. It would never leave the factory that way. The coronet is suppose to be Rolex's logo and brand, the fact they are okay making watches with the logo upside down or sideways is remarkable to me.

It doesn’t bother me that the crown of my Rolex isn’t straight, as long as the bills in my wallet all face right side up.
