New Rolex red writting sea dweller

Just bought a new Rolex red writing dweller model 126600.

Has anyone out there noticed any variation in the red print used on the dial ?

Mine is a deep dark red and a buddy of mine has one he bought last year and his is much lighter and almost a yucky pink color.

Congrats on the SD43! I found when I had mine that the color of the red changed tremendously depending on the lighting.

I’d agree with this entirely. I think that you’ll come to see that not only the writing but dial color will vary with lighting. In low lighting, the red will almost darken and disappear into the black of the dial. In bright light, the red becomes really vibrant and the matte dial almost turns a muddy brown.

It’s one of my favorite watches to wear. It catches my eye in different ways every time I wear it.

Now to actually answer your question... I haven’t heard much about variations in text color on the SD. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any but it just hasn’t really been discussed (from what I’ve seen). As we all know, Rolex adjusts as they go.

FWIW here is a photo of mine in the sunlight. Wouldn’t mind taking a look at a side-by-side with your friend’s watch.

In no way it should resemble “pink”
If this is true, I would question authenticity.

In dark, it’s like a deep red (think deoxygenated blood)
In sun, just red (oxygenated blood)

Congratulations btw and welcome to the club

It certainly changes in proper lighting. In indirect lighting the red text disappears and it looks like a 3 line dial.

Congrats! All I've seen so far have been the dark red. I do love the watch, but one thing that might be a little disappointing for me about the SD43/50 is the illumination of the markers/hands when needed. I find it's almost never bright enough for what I need to be able read the time in dark conditions. I have two Panerai watches and they seem much better. My eyes aren't that great I suppose, but I'd be curious how others feel about it?

I’ve blasted the lumes with a UV flashlight and they are cannons.

I can’t get the lumes to do this with sunlight though.

I like the fact the red one is very subtle in most lighting, but really pops in direct sunlight

Writing is dark red (almost unnoticeable in certain light) to vibrant bright red when lights strikes the dial

There is this whole MK1 and MK2 dial situation - MK2 being the one with the coronet between Swiss made and different 1 in the depth rating. But I believe the red is still the same red. Check it out
