Should I trade my SS BLRO against the White Skydweller ?

So having had the SS Pepsi for a few months and not worn it except for one day, I am thinking of trading it against the White SS Skydweller.

I am a frequent traveller and also have family living in a different timezone.
I am not a fan of the Jubilee bracelet. I think it suits older people more compared to someone in their thirties. I like the look and the feel of the Oyster bracelet.

Do you think I will be able to get someone to swap a brand new white dial SS Skydweller and is this a fair trade ?

a) no, you won’t find someone willing to make that swap.
b) no, it isn’t a fair trade.

i disagree, based on a) the pepsi on my wrist and b) the number of incomings here and c) the number of WRUW wristshots including the new GMTs.

i admit however that this is a fairly limited sample size at TRF.

If you don’t like it then flip. I wouldn’t though. Skydweller is just a DJ on steroids IMO. The BLRO is uniquely special in horology as a true icon.

I’ve worn mine since I picked up my BLRO in June last year! And I’ve got other Rolexes

I prefer the BLRO's older brother (father?) anyway, so I'd be inclined to do the swap. I think the SkyD is a tremendous watch.

I'm not exactly sure where the 2 match in price these days, but I wouldn't quibble over a few hundred dollars if that was the delta.

A GMT and a SkyD can (and should) co-exist in a collection

This. Both remarkable watches.

I traded my CHNR for the Blue Sky Dweller; definitely a bittersweet transaction. More sweet than bitter though.

I would, I have tried the SkyD on and the white is fantastic. I think, the most timeless of the SS skyD’s. However, a gray dealer will ask for cash, and an owner probably won’t give theirs up. So good luck

Have you tried the SkyD? If not, try it before you decide. As mentioned above, it wears big — both in size and in thickness. I have a SS SkyD in black and have a small wrist but don’t mind the size or thickness.

What drew me to the SkyD was the annual calendar complication. I have a number of watches with dates and I got tired of changing them. The addition of the GMT and extra power reserve really put the SkyD over the top for me. It really makes the watch very low maintenance. You just wear it and enjoy the engineering that makes it all work. With the power reserve, it allows you to rotate in another watch without worrying about the watch winding down.

If I had any complaints about the SkyD, it would be that it is a scratch magnet. It is a highly polished watch and I already have a bunch of scratches on the case and especially the PCL clasp. I’m not particularly hard on my watches but I definitely can’t treat it the same as my SubC.

I wish you the best on whatever you choose. Both are fantastic watches and we’re lucky to have a hobby like this.

There are tons of BLRO’s out there....can’t say that about the SKY D. Technically the SKY D is superior in complications....I would trade for the SKY D if you can do it straight up without adding any cash.

The SkyD is beautiful and I think the prices are justifiable where they are at right now.

I don't see why not, if you want it go for it. In the end these wonderful watches are just objects. Do what makes you happy!

If you don't wear the GMT, move it on for something you would. Whether you find a trade partner or need to sell it on and buy the SkyD, sounds like the GMT should go.

If you’re not wearing the BLRO and haven’t bonded with it I say move it on and get the Skydweller.

The Skydweller is a lovely watch, just a tad on the large size for me personally but many can pull it off.

If you’re concerned about the jubilee bracelet not being suitable for someone in their 30s, ie “old person’s bracelet,” which I understand (as an old person with a BLRO), are you not concerned about the fluted bezel on the sky dweller?

You must be independently wealthy to buy a piece and then get sick of it a few months later. Otherwise I suggest you think better financially before you make such large purchases.
