The ceramic bezel fatigue will go quickly when you start seeing hairlines/scratches on the non ceramic bezel Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ps - this is my favorite all time thread. I just can’t get enough. The 44 is my favorite all around watch.

Whilst of course I agree a ceramic bezel is a more sensible route I don't agree with this sweeping statement, as it all depends upon how careful you are. I admit a Summer Edition with gold bezel isn't a daily wearer but I wear mine fairly regularly and its still in very good condition, with virtually no marks on the bezel. A lot of it really is how much care you use, and if you're careful its ok, but if you're careless perhaps best avoided, as a scratched ROO bezel is so unsightly.

Holy, what a great AP pic. They all look special in their own way. The RG looks amazing with the white strap, and I am pleasantly surprised how nice the panda looks with the blue camo.

Absolutely, I didn't mean to suggest it can't be marked, and indeed it's clearly more likely to get marked than a version with ceramic bezel, but if worn carefully there's no real reason why it should be spoilt. I'd certainly not suggest a Summer Edition, or similar, as a daily wearer though.

Yes OEM rubber. Never took it off. I have a custom black hornback with rose gold stitching, I am yet to mount. Love the rubber. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The 44 Novelty thread
I get that if you are careful you can minimize the amount of marks or scratches you get on a non-ceramic bezel. But there is 2 things that for me are unacceptable with that : 1) I don’t want a live with this wrist awareness all the time , it takes away part of the fun , and don’t want to feel uncomfortable with some normal living situations 2) it’s not ok for me the look of the bezel when has some little marks , i think having a couple of faint marks on other part of the case in general is acceptable hey it happens to any watch we wear, but man when they are in the bezel is terrible because these watches are all about the bezel (or at least a good part) plus is in your face every time you see the time and reflects even more with light (sun)
I can accept though that those remarks are how I feel about it , and that a lot of people are ok with living in a careful state of awareness while you wear the watch and that to have a couple of marks on the bezel doesn’t take away their joy. And that’s fine . All I am saying is that for me that is not ok. Doesn’t make me happy , lol To each his own , I guess Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Now just need to convince AP to make a red camo strap ... THAT would be killer.

Rubber is nice at first but many others to explore and your custom should look great, get that on it when you can.

I’m looking at getting a 44 plat or RG (white sub dial) and has been checking out pre-owned pieces. What should I look out for other than having full box and papers, service records, any polishing and basic functions?
I also realized from pics that some ceramic bezels on 44 have nice clear polished lines on top but some don’t. How about the fair price to pay? 44 plat is ard Usd45 and 44 RG is ard usd32k here. The 44 plat will be the biggest watch purchase for me and I don’t want to make some silly mistakes. |

@lllouisv1126 - I'm fortunate enough to own both. As AK797 mentioned, go for the I series or newer models that have the vertical line finishing on the bezels. IMO, big difference and personally I think they look alot better. You're about right with your pricing, but as everyone says buy the seller. If you have to pay a bit more for the right seller, I'd do so.
They're both stunning pieces and accompany my 26405CE perfectly. I have my RG one on the matte black alligator and have the platinum on the blue rubber. |
