60th Anniversary Limited Edition Mechanical Hi-beat 36000
announcements of the release of this movement don't seem to have been to so much of a to do... the only watch released using this new movement is the SLGHOO2, though the yellow gold model is not for me personally, i eagerly await the upcoming models that will use this movement.
i am very excited by this new movement for grand seiko, the number one area for improvement i had hoped for with their watches was thickness. this new movement is sure to raise the bar. details: SLGH002 CALIBER 9SA5 AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT 80 HOUR POWER RESERVE Case size (40mm) with this movement 11.7mm vs SBGH279 caliber 9S85 Mechanical Hi-Beat 36000, a similar model automatic with time and date only using the older movement has a thickness of 13.3mm

Agreed. This will no doubt lead to some spectacular new watches, and answers the main bugbear I (along with many others) had.
Looking forward to it being rolled out... |

I totally missed this one. This movement looks very promising! My issue with GS have mainly been the thickness so this is welcome.
