Indeed.

Different strokes and all that.

Definitely not a "fun" movie. I still loved it though.

"Joker" was ho-hum to me. Perhaps because I'd seen many different versions of previews before I saw the actual movie.

I saw "Parasite". And it was totally magnificent. A review of that movie:

I didn’t like the movie because it was just downright disturbing and super depressing. Two hours of relentless mental illness—way too much reality for me. And it is extremely sad that in real life there is suffering like this in society today with no help. And every film has its undertone message and it’s very clear that something needs to be done. Anyway the directing, script writing, set design, score and lead actor was way above the bar and there will be a lot of oscars handed out on this one.

I’ts obviously a well made, well acted gripping film.

I didn’t like the disturbing subject matter – I didn’t feel comfortable watching a movie about a man degenerating with mental problems. I didn’t think the two scenes of extreme violence added anything to the film.

I came out of the cinema sad.

I came out of the theater with mixed emotions but loved and was impressed with the acting and story plot. But I am also a man degenerating with mental illness, so I could fully empathize with the character.

Finally got around to watching this last night.

Joaquin Phoenix was amazing. Pretty depressing otherwise. Though that’s not to say it wasn’t a good movie. Just tough to watch.
