Speedy on a strap

Hey!
Question, I'm looking for a Speedy as a daily. Im not very familiar with Omega at all. Is a speedy reduced the right way to start? I'm not looking for something special but worth keeping. I'm tired of my flashy Rolex during office hours.

Thanks!

You can never go wrong with the classic and iconic Speedy Professional with hesalite glass, manual wind.

100% agree. Bought one a couple of months ago and it gets half of my wrist time. It’s an absolute strap monster.

X2.

IMHO, it is one of the best watches one can have. I love mine.

Agreed... I’ve probably spent enough money on straps and NATO bands to buy another watch

Would you ever consider the sapphire crystal version for hard wear and how easily the hesalite scratches? And i love the ability to see the movement

If you want a good value get an used 3570.50 (hesalite front, SS back) or the newest model (reference ends on 005) as they can easily be found way below MSRP on the market. If buying new be advised that generally Omega Boutiques does not offer discounts under MSRP; a better source would be an AD or a gray seller where you can buy them below MSRP

Thanks!

Unless you have tiny wrists, would get the normal sized speedy (not the reduced)

Not for me. As I said I like the classic. Plus I take good care of my watches. But that one is nice and many like it.

I agree with the fine gents above, my Speedy (manual wind, plexi) is amazing and gets a ton of wrist time. The ability to go from strap, to bracelet, to NATO is such a benefit to an already incredible watch. And not to mention, so easy to read at a glance (unlike the my Daytona). I say get it!

Seeing these really solidified my wanting to get a Speedy as a daily. Had a P.O. as my first Omega and ever since I sold it been wanting a worthy replacement. Nice pics everyone!

The Speedy Pro is the ‘collectors’ version and the right one to go for in almost every circumstance.

However, I like to be different and as (a) I have small wrists, and (b) I didn’t want to overspend in what is an out-and-our beater for me, I went for the Reduced.

Not once have a regretted that decision and considered chopping it in for the Pro.

I have beefed it up a bit with the strap choice though.

I love my Rolexes but I love my Speedy too! I would encourage you to go for the Speedmaster Professional(Hesalite/solid caseback) over the reduced version.

Forget the Hesalite unless you want to live with polishing scratches out of the plastic crystal.
Why spend thousands of dollars for a watch with cheap crystal that is scratch prone. The Saphire sandwich is much nicer, more scratch resistant, the movement has been upgraded cosmetically with rhodium and some plastic internals replaced with metal for the see through back. The movement is truly a work of art so why not enjoy looking at it.

Go vintage and don't bang your watch around
The hesalite is easily buffed with toothpaste or polywatch.
And it's fun to know I'm wearing a 52 year old beauty that still keeps time!

Anything 1970-1990 is a huge bargain (145.022). If you prefer a good metal bracelet get something mid 70s or later, if you like to switch out your straps all the time you can get something earlier. My 1039 bracelet sits unused, too stretchy to wear regularly, but original still.

But of course with modern you get other benefits, like being able to see the movement, and no concerns about water resistance.
