Omega vs JLC

Sorry in advance for the click bait title... not a brand argument thread just 2 chrono’s I’m looking at

Which would you add to my 3 watch collection?

Both have a vintagy vibe and great movements, similar pricepoints

Omega Speedmaster 60th Anniversary

JLC Sector dial

My trio

I’d go with the JLC, personally. I had that speedmaster for a while and couldn’t fall in love with it. I’m not usually so anti “faux-tina” but it bothered me with that watch after a while.

With your current collection I would go Moonwatch.

If you could use something dressier in your collection, then JLC. Otherwise, speedy. I could never get past those skeletonized syringe hands on the JLC.

Omega Speedmaster or the JLC Polaris chronograph. I don’t live the model you are looking at.

good luck! also, I know you’d asked about those specific watches but I’d personally consider a reverso in that price range and with your existing trio (which I love btw).

I have the Sector Dial Chrono. Love it. Perfect dimensions. Lack of secondhand is a nice change of pace compared to all my other watches. And wait until the light catches the blued hands. Such a great looking piece. Just switch out the flat alligator strap. I like mine on a vintage inspired leather strap.

Polaris line is too big IMO. At 40mm the Sector is perfect.

I appreciate the recommendation but I have tried a few Reverso’s in person and didn’t fall in love, I think I’m a round watch guy lol

I’m a fan of both brands, especially JLC for their mechanical prowess. And you have a nice collection, enjoy

I've owned that JLC chrono. It's the better watch technically. I just couldn't connect with it for some reason. That said, I also don't love the 60th anniversary. If I were in your shoes, I'd go for a classic Speedy or a CK2998.

Can't go wrong with either. I feel that the JLC is good on a night out in the town with a suit. I have owned several Omegas and always get compliments, and are great daily's. however if I want to switch it up, the JLC is a subtle piece and very sophisticated.

Here's one I have on my computer for a kitchen knife forum post. Its a Bulang & Sons vintage blue strap and gives the watch a more casual vibe as I usually wear jeans. I have a couple of B&S straps and they have been great quality.

The CK2998 uses the Omega calibre 1861 (same as the professional moonwatch). You're thinking of the 3330 co-axial movement found in speedy racing.

I'll still try and sway this to the CK2998.

I'd go with the classic hesalite moonwatch. I love JLC but they'd be my first choice for a dress watch and not a sports watch. JMHO.
