Sub found in sea genuine?

I saw this on one of the detecting pages that I follow on Instagram.
I have found that stainless objects on the beach will, in time be tainted by any ferrous metals that are touching them.
I suspect that this was found in a spot that isn't submerged all the time and that this has caused the corrosion.
I think it may be genuine. What are your thoughts?

Looks like the dial and hands are totally unmarked. If true, it's a testament to the longevity of the gaskets and construction.

Curious if the bracelet is broken as would be more suspicious of being real if the bracelet is complete. Hard to tell from picture if it is a genuine Sub

Kinda looks that way

As far as genuine? Second hand and dial look fine. Who knows really

Clean-up video + repair video please! I hope it's genuine, makes a better story.

If you would repair this I assume it's a new case + bracelet. So the only thing useable is the movement and dial?

It appears it started working from being handled. That’s awesome, I’d be curious if they could find the owner and see how long it’d been underwater.

Amazing discovery. Do share a picture of before/after repairs if you get to fix it, would be awesome.

I hope it is genuine but these days most of the stuff on social media is staged/fake to drive clicks and followers

Very cool, if it’s real.

Similar story: There was a security guard at a venue I used to play every week in NYC, who found a 2-tone, black dial sub (116613LN) while snorkeling with his family.
He said a little “glimmer” caught his eye just as he was heading up to the surface. He surfaced, took a breath and dove again, but couldn’t immediately find the glimmer again. Dove a couple more times, located it, and it turned out to be the 116613LN. It was in very good shape, IIRC, so obviously not down there a long time (relative to the watch above). He told me he’d never been a “watch guy”, but he had that sub on every single time I saw him.

x2. I have about as much confidence in the sincerity of things posted on social media as I do towards a call from "Steve" at "customer support".

Cape Cod polishing cloth will buff that out.

Is this watch over polished?

The answer is a definitive NO

Leaning towards fake, as bezel font looks like a five-digit while lugs are clearly a 11 series.

Still, held up quite remarkably internally it seems.

Maybe this is PADI's from the story he tells of his sub catching on the boat during a water entry

Correct, this watch is a 120$ regmariner replica, a rather clumsy attempt at faking a 116610LN. Hour indices are edgy, SEL completely wrong. Also the mud on the watch, not very convincing, clearly staged instagram story…
