Pick only 1 Daily watch: Daytona or Nautilus?

Rolex 116500LN Panda or nautilus 5711a?. 5711 wins for me.

5711 is 3x the cost of 116500LN on secondary, and 2x the cost MSRP.

Not exactly a fair comparison.

I’m a fan of both PP and Rolex, but that particular nautilus really doesn’t excite me personally. So if forced to choose between these two, I’d lean towards the Daytona, but it would be totally dependent on my collection at the time.
As a one and only daily watch for me…I’d pick the Daytona.

5711. Thinner and more elegant so better suited to my daily work wear. Would prefer the Daytona for weekends, though.

Both are great watches. I would wear either. But 5711 is thinner and easier to wear.

Pick only 1 Daily watch: Daytona or Nautilus?

Two good candidates. I’d be happy with either. If you have to buy secondary Daytona is a much better value imho

I find it tough to compare a chronograph to a time only watch.

That said, the Nautilus would wear thinner and lighter, but the Daytona is also a comfortable watch … may feel more brick like to some

Daytona for a daily in this comparison.

Patek always has and always will be about complications, precious metals, case design and elegance for me.

As for the no date no daily argument, unless it manages itself month to month I'm not interested. Annual calendar at the very least. Really irritates me having to manage the date, what's the point.

Both are secondary only at this point. Pedestrian movement tike only vs one of the best chronograph movements should not be a difficult choice… when one factors in mkt pricing, makes it no contest… unless one only cares about status which is fair point in luxury game… Daytona by a mile for me…

I have both as my only two watches at the moment, and the Daytona is the daily by a country mile

Worry far less with the Daytona, feels more robust and durable, don't care as much banging it into things, less value to stress over, EZ link extension makes it more adjustable in hot and cold climates etc..

Naut is the fun weekend watch, or for the nice dinner for me personally

5711 as a daily as for me weight, slimness, date, wrist presence are important factors.

Price and aesthetics aside, I think with ceramic bezel and Easylink the Daytona makes the better daily watch.

5711 over the Daytona for me. As the said, the sleek elegance is hard to match. But the two watches are not really comparable.

I dont see any correlation between the two. We are comparing a very durable beater to a scratch magnet. 11A is a great watch but I treat it as a special PM piece and wear carefully. If you look at it wrong the darn thing scratches and for me in all my years of collecting, scratches dont give a watch “character”. They are eyesores for me.

Mike is making the more practical and realistic points that I relate to. Would we really be so nonchalant and easily inclined to wear a 5711a daily given its value and being so delicate?? No one wants to have to baby a daily piece, so Daytona is the choice in this regard, whereas the 11a makes more sense for weekends or occasions. Just my 2cents and own leanings.

That's obvious, 5711.

The Daytona is a more robust daily wearer for me, I used the 5711 as a daily for two years and it had to go back to Patek twice, it also picked up loads of scuffs and marks making it look shabby.
