Great Lunch & Dinner Possibilities in London?
Me and my Wife are having a long weekend in London this weekend, staying at Grange St Pauls and doing some shopping and dinning.
We're regulars to London and love the city, having had many fun days up there and I even proposed to her in St James Park, next to Buckingham Palace, not the home of Newcastle United FC! Current plan is to arrive on Saturday, shop till we drop and then settle back at the Hotel. Sunday is enjoy the facilities at the Hotel, then visiting The Shard then going to Marco Pierre White's Steak House for dinner. Monday we're having a Spa day then travelling home, should be a good one! However, we're trying to come up with some ideas for lunch and dinner on the Saturday. We'll be around Regent Street at lunchtime and walking back to Grange near St Paul's around dinner. Do any London locals on TRF or travellers who've been to London recently have any good recommendations for lunch and dinner in London, lunch being relatively close walk to Regent Street and dinner restaurants near Covent Garden or St Paul's? We recently eat at Monica Galetti's Mere restaurant for lunch and loved it, but it's a bit far out this time! Casual and relaxed dinning is what we're looking for. Many thanks for any recommendations! |

Where is Neil when we need him. I’m sure when he’s see this, he’ll offer some suggestions. Enjoy your stay.

We were there a couple of weeks ago, Enjoyed the Ivy and would have loved to go to Rules but the chance to watch Swan Lake was deemed to be potentially more enjoyable by my wife. Knowing that the last time she was wrong was in 1967, I meekly concurred.

I live on the outskirts of London but for birthday and anniversary lunches etc or if we’re just going ‘up Town’ for shopping my most favourite restaurant is the ‘Wolseley Piccadilly’.
It’s that end of Piccadilly next door to the Ritz Hotel. My reasons are; the Restaurant has a great atmosphere with an interesting and varied menu and the prices are not fantastically expensive. Check it out on the internet. Go there! |

If your near St Pauls and fancy something spicy try Brigadiers. Excellent food and fantastic service.

Monica Galetti is great but you have to visit the master, Michel Roux at Le Gavroche, he's a lovely guy as well always happy to pose for pics. If you like Beef Wellington then I recommend the Fortnum's restaurant, 45 Jermyn Street. I'd also take Afternoon Tea at the Ritz as well. |

Blimey, the choice is really unlimited but:
If you like a light lunch and fairly casual I enjoy Balthazar at Covent Gardens or slightly more dressy but always very good is the Wolseley (next to the Ritz) although I have only been there in the evening. |

A partner took me here on my first International trip in 1995 when I was with Coopers & Lybrand. He liked to go out to nice places. It was my first Fine Dining experience and the one meal that set me off on a new direction towards becoming much more of a foodie. I had never had pate and a chef's welcome plate changed all of that. Since that night, I will basically try anything at a Fine Dining restaurant with great Chefs. |

I recommend trying Bob Bob Ricard and Spuntino in the Soho district. Both places are great for either lunch or dinner

Have dinner at Noble Rot on Lambs Conduit Street which is about 1/2 way between Covent Garden and St Paul’s. Small, slightly quirky, wonderful food, and great wines.
