I disagree with this, mine is a December 2010 V serial and has the 2 ticks. I feel that there is actually NO set pattern, both new and older versions are being sold with either..

I think Rolex picks dials based on whichever is available at the time.

Just do Daytona search on ebay and filter for 2000 and after models... Then start checking the images...

I saw more single tick dials on the newer models... But I can always be wrong...

Hi Eduardo,
I done exactly that, I noted that the older Daytonas' had a '2 tick' compared with the newer models.
I have just purchased a Daytona and that model is a "V" with a single tick my serial number is V9*****
Be interested to see what the conclusion is. Or as others have said it might be the randomness of the selection at the time. But what does it mean ? why have '2' ticks? this is an unusual feature is it not ?

I have a new model and single tick...the double go back quite a while...its not something new....as somwtimes perieved

The dials with short markers at 27min and 33min are mostly present on the newer watches.. There is no big difference or a big deal about the dials..
I really like the one with short markers since the sub dials have a slightly darker color..like a modern Patrizzi dial...

... and the other dials with long markers have more shiny subdial rings...

Ok here is a question for you all that I hope you can answer as its driving me mad. I have a Rolex Daytona V serial 2009 and G 2011 both white dial. I have noticed differences in both watches the V has old style font and spacing looks tight.

On new G serial it's newer simple font on Oyster Perpetual but has a larger space between both words and also has a bigger space on COSMOGRAPH being almost set like COSMOGR APH.

The other difference is DAYTONA is slightly lighter red and D is less stretched than on V serial number.

Has anyone else noticed this as they are both UK watches and is very strange to see they have these differences.

Mine are both white though single tick and it's just the text that is different I see you have two different colour faces there though.

You guys are all far more observant than I am. My 5 month old white dial has the single tic. Can't say anything for whether that is common though as it is the only example I have.

My SS Daytona was bought in April 2014. From AD ordered from rolex (wasn't an in stock watch, was ordered by AD from Rolex for me). Double tick.

This is a pretty old thread but my contribution is this. I got my Daytona from the AD in Aug 2014. They had it 1 day from the factory. It has a Single tick. N Serial number

That will actually be a random serial number (8 digits) that just happens to start with an N
