Exotic car rental - worth it?

Anybody have experience with this?

$1200-$1500 for 24 hours seems like a lot of money for a Lambo Huracan, Maclaran 570s, or Ferrari 488 Spyder. Would not remain in a crowded congested city if I did it.

Talk me into or out of it :-)

Cheers

Personally if I am spending that, I would spend it at the track. At least then you can really see how the car performs without the fear of going to jail. Many good tracks that rent exotics in the US.

I think you can rent it on a track all in for 150-350. Also no risk of going to jail for reckless driving.

Depends on the track and car. Anywhere from $100-300+ for 5 laps or in that neighborhood. If you want to spend you can usually get them to cut you a deal. My buddy and I dropped $1000 each and we were there most of the day. We tried a bunch of different cars and it was a great time. My fastest times were in Porsche though...not Italian. Buddy cranked out a great lap in a Lambo. We like Speed Vegas. We have been there a few times now.

What about a gnarly off road experience? Do you think that could command serious money like exotic rentals do?

I rented a Hurrcan in Vegas for 4 hours ~$700. Honestly, some of the most fun 4 hours I've ever had. Totally recommend it. Next time I go to Vegas there is no question that I will rent again.

I’d rent an exotic at a track to enjoy it. Risk of embarrassing myself and trashing an exotic on a public road is too great. I did rent a 911 in Germany one time and spent 8 hours driving up and down the autobahn with a friend. We had great fun doing so.

I was thinking a bit more aggressive than that. But I guess it answers the question. Was that a one-day classroom then on the course with an instructor?

No, waste of money. You’ll never get the enjoyment out of the cars you want on regular roads. And if you aren’t accustomed to the power they have you’re risking a bad accident. 500,600 bhp is no joke.

I'd say so a m3/me track day for the same price. You can get an instructor car and all in and 5 hours. Well worth the joy...

Money down the drain. For a week's rental you could use the same money to go to Russia and take a ride to 70,000' in a Mig-29, which would be money well spent.

If it is a bucket list item go for it. I could think of a lot of other things to do with the money that would be better than driving a care I can not afford to own. Have fun.

Are they still offering that? I thought they stopped civilian flights last year.

If you will get $1500 worth of enjoyment from it vs. other things you could do or get with the money then why not.

I’m a HUGE car nut and I wouldn’t do it. I don’t mind blowing money, as a matter of fact I’m exceedingly good at it. But this wouldn’t be how I’d blow it.

Rented a 458 Spyder in Monaco for a week, honestly it was a waste. I own an exotic in Canada and got tired of always getting my best European drives in a rented 3 series. Turned out to be a waste of money, not sure where your renting one but the one I got was GPS'd to the speed limit so an alarm would go off when you went over the speed limit... honestly had more fun winding the 3 series out through the alps... that's just my 0.02 tho
