in Taiwan, for all those "hot" and popular pieces, like hulk, batman, SD43, 116500 Daytona's, you have to bundle purchase a out-of-date, back-stocked Tudor or a Rolex up to AD's choosing or over msrp at current market rate right now......

Let’s be honest here, if there were not long waiting lists, most people would not be interested in buying these watches anyway. I am sure that if suddenly, magically, Rolex provided all the watches for all the people on the waitlists then there would be a lot of unsold watches sitting around

I think the hype surrounding Rolex and its hard to source models is all to do with flippers and/or people knowing that if they were to buy a particular hard to source SS model they will never lose money and infact could double their money in some cases by selling the next day.
If you have two watches you like and its a choice between one that may hold its value and one that is guaranteed to hold and increase its value I think the majoriy of people would choose the latter.
"buy what you like" thats fine if you have plenty of cash and do not mind losing money on a watch but most savvy buyers of which are reading this now I am sure would prefer not to lose money especially as we chop and change our watches very frequently.
As for the OP - you are in the enviable position of owing a DD and a Daytona. Im sure most on here would kill for the opportunity to own either if given the opportunity by an AD that could actually supply them. 1st World problems eh ?
