Lange have a very clear identity and role within Richemont, and a steel sports watch ain't it.
Personally, I love steel as a material, and I love Lange as a company, but it doesn't add up, despite what some guy on YouTube infront of a computer spouting "truths" says. Say what you want about Richemont, but they do understand their brands' DNA.

Idk, pretty good sources are saying this- Tim usually knows his stuff really well. Also, brands need to evolve to survive. I don’t think Lange does all that well financially, and it’s hard to argue the decline of the dress watch. If FPJ can make a sports watch, I don’t see why Lange can’t or shouldn’t. Will it do well? Who knows. But as a fan of Lange, if the rumors are true I am excited to see what they come up with.

I hope it is true, I love Lange watches and want to get another soon. But sport watches in steel with bracelet a la Nautilius or RO I don't think they will release. Maybe something sportier on leather.

The same Tim said that Rolex will never release a steel Pepsi so as good as he is even him is not always right.

Well, to put all the speculations to rest, I have a boutique source confirming that a sports watch is coming. He didn't share the details in terms of material (steel most likely) and choice of bracelet/strap. He did take down my details and said once the watch is announced, they will be doing private viewings in boutique. From the discussion, it seemed the launch could happen between next 4-6 months. However, Tim is now saying that it is next month.

It is coming for sure, between the next 1-6 months.

Shreve, Crump, and Low in Boston confirmed similar details to me. Whether or not it’s all true? Time (haha) will tell. Rep also mentioned something nautical for the name (something in the realm of “Poseidon”).

If true: Has to be priced north of 20k. I’m guessing 25k. Probability a direct compete w/Royal Oak.

I hope it is a good size (40mm or lower preferably with regular lug length) and attractive aesthetically. The market, and me personally (lol), are desperate for a Patek/Royal Oak competitor that will be relatively easily available. For all the things that are good with the Overseas, the case shape and 41mm size (and above), makes it unwearable for guys with smaller wrists.

I hope its not like GO SeaQ. That is a botched up release by the German brand.

Not sure if it's going to be any easier to find Lange sports watches considering they don't make that many anyway.

Also confirmed from a source in Greenwich, CT a steel sports watch is coming.

Lange are bit late to the party, but a welcomed addition to the high-end sports watch market.

I’m in this camp also. If Lange production is like 4000-5000 watches a year I could see a SS sports watch only being like 100 a year to make it ultra exclusive and only for their best clients.

One of THE all time greats. Having seen that piece in person (that's as close as I will ever be to one), that lovely grey dial really makes this piece, aside from..well...you know...the "technical stuff"

I hope to see one in grey dial, from pictures it’s the best colour combo.

Based on their history, I could only see a pilot or a marine watch.

However, whatever it will look like, we can be sure that the movement will again blow us out of the shoes

Combined 973 parts, 799hrs of power reserve and 108 jewels... Two of the best from Lange. The only decision is which one to wear.....

Beautiful piece. Still regret I don't have a bigger wrist for this beast.

You're gonna see it within a month!

That being said, I think this has a great impact on the brand. They are tightening their ship big time on discounts etc. They are cutting back on shipments. They want to see positive changes.

They sold me on the model.

Have you heard anything specific about it?

I'm planning to head to my local AD/Boutique (where I bought my Lange 1) when I have a chance next week to have a chat. I'm actively in the market for a new sports watch and, being unable to buy a 5711 and put off by the kinds of people I see actually wearing them, have a shortlist of a Journe LineSport and hypothetical Lange...

As they used to say on an old TV show (The Guns of Will Sonnett)

Day and Date on a sports watch is an odd choice. Not liking the sound of this to be honest.

If this watch is going to be another "friends of the brand only" watch then pass. Already way too many of those today.
