To trade or not?

I have a Rolex GMT master II with the ceramic bezel style number 116713N. I bought it in 2007 only wore it a couple of times has all the stickers tags boxes papers complete. My AD Panerai dealer has a brand-new 312 in stock and said that they will trade me even up out the door. Would you make this trade if so why or why not?

Would not trade a Rolex for a Pam. Love Pams but Rolex is Rolex!

You own my favorite Rolex for under 10k...

Unless you are looking for a bigger watch(especially taller) I would not make the trade.

Which fits your life style better? Moreover which fits your wrist better?

Don't let it bear on your decision just because your AD offered so, pick which one you like..Do you like your rolex more, or the PAM?

Congrats on your first post! Only took you five years after joining.

IMO, I see zero point in holding on to a watch you know you won't wear. That being said, I would check out sites to see if you are getting a fair deal, price wise. I don't know the current pricing for your Rolex, but, it just seems like you would be expecting a little bit of cash coming your way (then again, you are dealing with a dealer and they never give fair value on trades (though they do offer convenience))..

Good luck with the decision!

It would have to be one helluva PAM to trade a GMT for. I wouldn't do it but then again I would wear the GMT often. If the PAM will get wrist time then I'd consider it. My 2c worth.

I'm no expert here, so happy to be corrected. If it was a SS GMT master II for a Panerai 312 and you really wanted the 312, I'd say a straight up trade is probably a good deal. New, these watches have a very similar RRP.

For the GMT Master you have, I would not do the straight up trade. I would keep the Rolex or ask for a bit of cash as well.

Get or keep the one you want most but I would not do a straight trade.
There should be cash coming your way.
Or sell the TT GMT-C and go buy the 312 at a discount.

Don't do it. If u really want a rolex just buy a rolex. I wear my panerai quite often. but its nice to have a different type of watch for a different occasion. I also have a GMT master and I think they are so different that you should have them both.

Keep the Rolex and put it in your rotation. Once you start wearing it you will love it.

Two-tone...? Well, never mind; point being, as a few other members above noted, if you don't like the 116713N - for whatever reason, then flip it. The question is how / when to flip it. I'm no Rolex expert and I don't know the value of a LNIB 116713N. Price seems to swing from $8K~$9K. Will it go up in value? Can you afford to buy the 312 (~$8K) and hold on to the GMTMII?

Good luck with your decision & keep us posted

The GMT is worth more. Which one to keep is a matter of personal preference, but I'd try to get cash back in a trade.

Agreed with both points above. If you are not wearing your TT GMTIIc then there is no point keeping it...regardless of how much others on this forum may like it, you should move it and make room for something that does sing to you. That said, there is no way I would do it for a straight up trade. Sell your GMT first and then go to your dealer and discuss a discounted price for cash. The other option is to work with some of the trusted sellers here on TRF.

I like both brands but this trade is a no no for me. IMO the GMT is way too comfy compared among this 2.

I also have a 116713 and love it. That being said I love my Pams too. IMO if you are not wearing the Rolex flip it however I believe there is a much better deal to be had. I would contact DavidSW or Bodybump here on TRF (trusted sellers) and you will get treated much better and a better deal
