It makes me (somewhat) chuckle seeing people listing "Fat Font" inserts for sale that really are not very fat

Do not misunderstand me, I have been fond of fat-font inserts for many years now, they are by far the nicest imho, because they give such a unique look to the watch.

As many of you, I know that is is nowadays very difficult to spot one in great shape and NOS or featuring a great patina. And that genuine ones are over-priced because of the Sellers/Internet-hype that make people believe that thin-font inserts are only service parts and are not legit for older watches of the 60/seventies era.

But the truth is that during these periods, thin-font and fat-font inserts were living together, although once again, fat font are nicer to me.

Please find hereafter a Rolex 1968 catalog picture featuring a 5513 meters-first and a 1675 Gmt. The 1675 insert is not a super-fat- font, not even a fat-font one.
The 5513 meters first Sub features a very skinny thin-font insert as you can see.

This second picture features a Rolex 1966 1675 Gilt-dial ad with a thin-font insert as well (although the pic is in black/white, one can see the difference of colour between the crown and the writing and the little Gmt hand).
