Weird issue with my VC. Second hand runs while minute and hour hands stops?

I got my VC 7900v used (2019 model) about a month ago. The watch is fantastic in every sense and keeps great time.
However, every few days about 10-15 mins before the home time (time indicated by GMT hand) is about to turn to 12pm, the minute hand stops turning. However the second hand continues to runs like it should. So basically the watch stops at around 11:45pm (home time) while the second hand continues to run. In the morning, I just set the time and everything is fine.

This only seems to happen when I sleep with the watch on. When i have the watch on a winder, no issues. And when I just set the watch down, it's hit or miss.
So perhaps it has something to do with the angle at which the watch is resting?
I planned on taking it to a watch maker for service anyways (I usually do this whenever I get a used watch to make sure everything is running correctly) but was curious if anyone has seen this issue.

I'm guessing it's out of warranty - does VC only give 2 years it looks like?

Yep unfortunately it is out of warranty. Original owner could have gotten the warranty extended for 6 years by registering the watch with VC within the initial 2 year warranty period. But when i went through the registration process on the website, it showed that there was no extended warranty, meaning the original owner never registered it with VC.

Crazy people don't take the 10 seconds to register stuff in all industries. My industry you get a 5 year parts warranty and additional 5 years if you take 10 seconds to register the equipment. I register every single sale our company makes but when it's one someone else sold that's 7 years old and needs a $1,200 part you can bet it didn't get registered and I have to break the bad news.

Anyways good luck getting the watch back to proper working order it's a fantastic watch!

I just dropped off my watch at an independent for movement overhaul and pressure test. I was thinking about taking it to VC but the cost would have been ~$2K. The independent guy I took it to serviced a Rolex GMT master ii for me in the past and did a great job. He specializes in high end watches and turnaround is 2 weeks. The cost will be around $500. Hopefully there will be no more issues after the service.
