That is a curious perspective. Not sure I understand.

Can't imagine that anyone giving him any advice anywhere would be willing to pay his mortgage if it doesn't work out.

Personally, I ask advice here all the time (I have a doozey coming soon). Tons of super successful people with a lot of life experience on this particular forum.

So much that I do not know about so many things. I actually find this a great place to get perspective. I don't always follow it. I am ultimately responsible for my choices. But I always find it helpful to hear what other people think about particular situations.

Just food for thought.

Im thrilled to hear all of your responses. Gaining all these perspectives is valuable to me

Personally I don't see any issues asking for advice on a forum you trust. I do participate on other forums but TRF is the one I feel is suited to get insights concerning the subject matter.

It's really up to an OP on how he/she will process the information and what course of action to take. For me, its about gaining insights from an outside unbiased source, hearing people's experiences who are unselfish to share their life's journey. I see this as support, more than advice.

Then there is the anonymity factor that provides a certain level of comfort that an OP allows to speak freely. I'm not certain I could have the same conversation with a relative, to be honest.

Interestingly its not the first time I've asked for career advice in TRF, and those insights I got helped me get to where I am now.

Again, many thanks to everyone for participating.
