Are there Rolexes with Breguet numerals?

Hi all

A non-WIS friend of mine dug out an old "Rolex" that he was given and asked me whether it is original or fake. I don't know much about vintage Rolexes so thought to check with the experts. Here's a pic.

I have seen vintage Rolex's with breguet numerals.

I think yours is fake though ...

Lacks the "Superlative chronometer ..." at 6 o'clock. Also there's no serial number under the jubilee at the 6 o'clock side. Weighs 37 grams.

Hi Nikos

I am not sure whether this is a fake or not. The lack of "superlative..." doesn't mean it is a fake.

You might have to open the back and look inside to check what movement is inside. A serious watchmaker should be able to do this.

Best
Tom

I don't think that I've ever seen a dial like that, but the watch looks authentic to me.

It may be a redial or maybe not.

The best place for this thread would be "Vintage" or "Watch Out."

You may have more luck posing this question in the Vintage thread - I don't know how we can help validate a watch with a dial nobody has ever seen.

Your other option like Tom said is open it up to see if it has a genuine movement. But if you want to be 100% certain then get it to the RSC - you'll know very quickly if that dial is a fake.

Ask the mods to move it for you.

It's not a good thing to post the same thread to two forums.
