The fluted bezel absolutely makes this watch. It just gives the DJII so much pop and in the sun, it is truly amazing.

Well, that's 1 more thing i learned today, it does look smaller. That said, i'd go for the fluted, more character and class IMO.

Concensus seems to be the smooth looks smaller. I posted this more as a public service picture. I'd already made my decision. Regardless of your preference when you put them both on the smooth looks and even feels smaller. For anyone considering a DJII but were concerned about it's size you definitely need to try this one on. If you want a DJ with more wrist presence but dosen't wear large you may want to have a closer look at the smooth bezel option. With all the dial combos available you're sure to find one you like.

I love fluted bezels, but imho they work best with the Jubilee bracelet. Smooth bezels work better with the Oyster bracelet

with this roman dial, i prefer the fluted. with stick dials, i like the smooth for the silver dial, fluted for the dark blue & white dials and either for the black.

Like them both but for different reasons. Fluted is more flash, and smooth is more subtle. I would wear fluted to more special occasions but would wear the smooth as an everyday piece.

Different combinations of dials, bracelets, etc. go better with different bezels IMO. I don't think that I could wear a fluted bezel because it would look funny on me - it definitely has a fancier appearance.

I got the smooth bezel version, with blue roman numerals! Fluted bezel is nice, and iconic for Rolex but its a little to flashy for me. If the watch is gonna be wore on formal occasions, I would think fluted is the way to go for ya. And honestly, that look better on ya than the smooth bezel!
