Is this common with vintage watches?

Just received my 16808 today, and love it! From the early eighties..


However, I noticed that after I wind it (40x), it I just sit it there, it is losing tons of time, like 10 min every half hour. But when I' wearing it or when it's in my winder, it keeps good time (as far as I can tell so far).

Does this have to do with magnetization, lubricant, mechanical issues, or is that the way it should be?

Definitely needs an overhaul. It shouldn't do that at all. 3035 is brilliant if it's kept maintained. I wouldn't wind it a bunch manually until you do because the only real weak point on that movement is the winding bridge which wears badly when lubrication goes away. That being said the only way to get that bridge is to have RSC service your watch afaik. They won't send it even exchange to account holders or AD's. When it's bad it gives a rather characteristic "crunchy" wind feel on manual wind. Open market price is pretty high on that part.
