Shipping Bracelet to Micheal Young

So as someone who lives in NJ, what is the best way to send a SS bracelet to Micheal Young. I was going to do USPS with tracking, insurance, etc. But do others advise against doing that?

What I want to know is how you got ahold of him? Multiple emails I have sent are going on 2 years unresponded to.. I want to send him some work myself

Sent mine jubilee about 5 years ago, sent it registered mail!

I sent my Tudor bracelet to him via USPS without problems. Came back the same way and all went well.

Yea so far. Did you go via the website?

USPS is fine, overseas priority includes $200 coverage, if the value is higher you pay a little more.
I just sent one and it took 6 days to arrive..

yeah, i went through the web site. I also have two different emails for him as well and tried both of those..

I’ve had several fixed by his company, all with fantastic result. I just followed the process on his site (and the email he sends after first contact).

I included specific instructions and included photos.

Just ship it the way he suggests. All good.

OP,
I used Fedex. It cost me around $65. Fedex is much easier and the website will step you through the customs piece and prints all that for you. You just hand it all to the counter person and they take care of it. It’s quick too. They will get it in 3 days plus I could insure it for r the right amount.

I just contacted him via website email about 3 years ago - no issues

Just packaged it up/ went to local post office/ sent international tracked.

Few emails back/ forward - no issues. He even posted back to my office so guaranteed someone would be there

USPS Priority International will get it there in 3-5 Business Days for about $35...Why pay double to Fed-Ex?

Honestly the biggest reason I went with FedEx is the ability to do all the paperwork electronically. I have never sent anything internationally and had no idea what I was doing. It was the bracelet from my late father’s watch and I wanted to minimize risk of something happening to it. It’s got a lot of sentimental value to me. Considering the watch’s value, the additional $35 was a drop in the bucket for peace of mind.

I did everything online for USPS too,Just use International click N Ship....All You need is one of those clear sticky envelopes to put the Customs documents into.

There’s a new bracelet repair in I think California with good reviews so far. I think there was one review posted today with the owner posting his contact info too. Seems to please a lot of members so far

So the band finally arrived at MY's shop. He just wrote back:

"Taking a further look onto your band, the links are quite worn on the centre links and also cutting into the side links, we can also improve this further by laser repairing the links"

This is for an extra charge. My question is does he normally recommend this option to all his clients? I"m not sure if my bracelet really has that much damage to it. RSC was telling me it was in really bad shape too. But I couldn't tell if they just were pushing a new bracelet on me.

Do others feel like this extra option is worth the money? Its in HK now maybe get it done in one shot if it improves the quality of the bracelet?

Get it fixed all the way, probably you are going to be disappointed if you don't and it still looks poor after you get it back.

MY has a jubilee for me at this moment and offered the same option for me.... extra $150 I believe, Total was around $400 incl laser welding.

Yea I'm most likely going to do it. RSC wanted me to pay more than triple that cost to buy a new band. As long as it looks ok and will keep my GMT from falling off my wrist its worth it.

totally agree. OP, go for it, in my opinion. I got my 9315 oyster and half gold jubilee repaired by MY. No regrets and they did a heck of a job restoring my jubilee.

Mine was right at 8 weeks round trip. This was about a month ago

I have been working with Michael for decades now. Sometimes they are swamped, sometimes they are not. Generally he has an assistant now who will contact you when the bits arrive and when they are done and they actually come with project nos.

He's invaluable.

Sometimes he can be hard to reach other times not. Sometimes you need multiple email addy's. Sometimes not. I sent an email alerting him of a case I sent yesterday for a factory polish job. As soon as it was morning in HK he contacted me and thanked me for the head's up and that they would report when it arrived.

On the bands...those links wear into each other sometimes. They have plenty of work. it's not like they need the extra to do :-) If it needs it and he can make it better, I would recommend that if you are going to keep it. You won't be sorry I'm sure short or long term.

I hope that's the case.... he got mine around July 27th we agreed on the price July 29th so I assume it'll be home by Sept 30th or so. I'll post the jubilee repair when it arrives on the thread I started about my MY experience. Besides the communication, time zones and all, being slow it's been flawless. Understand, slow means next day I get the message he sent me the night before. The time differential of course.

I just got my bracelet back from MY today! I shipped it out on August 11th so about a 5 week turnaround time with shipping. I am blown away by how it looks/feels now. It was definitely worth it. Some before and after shots below for review.
