I would say that currently the Sub is the model that is the most emblematic of the Rolex brand.
I think that probably came to be during the Eighties. Prior to that, it was probably the DJ. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/icon

I truly feel that people there are not much into watches but think of luxury think of the DJ/DD when they think Rolex. To the WIS and those in the know I feel it is the Sub that comes to mind first.
Hard to vote on this one, but I say Sub. It is the icon for those in the know! |

Iconic according to which demographics. According to TRF I would suspect most here would vote for the Suc (including me). For the public I assume it would be DJ or DD. The population of general public would definitely be more than TRF type consumers so I would assume DJ/DD (more towards DJ) would be the iconic ones if you put a poll to the population on earth but in TRF alone it would be the sub.
