16750 dressed as a 1675

So I took my new to me 1982 GMT 16750 slapped on an oval link bracelet and a faded insert, and now it looks more like a late 60's 1675. Of course I still have the original components that were natural to the watch but I thought this might be a nice way to wear it for the summer.

What do you think? Sacrilege? OK to do? I know what I think, its my watch and I will put things back especially and of course if I ever sell.

Why didn't I buy a 1675 ? Good question, I will likely someday, but this example showed up first and this is almost like having 2 for the price of one.

Appreciate any opinions, feedback and thoughts.

Certainly not. Perfectly acceptable options for the reference.

Maybe you like the look of the 1675, but don't want to wind the watch 20 times to change the date a few days ahead?

Looking good!

As long as you retain the orig parts - have fun with it - GMTs were made for cosmetic changes like yours. I recently put a jubilee on my 16750 and love the new look (time period for the jubilee doesn't concern me as i have the original 93150 in the drawer

Love the Pepsi insert. I don't care for the all black on a GMT. Looks too much like a sub.

No problem with that at all... I have a black 1675 fat font insert on my fat lady. Not original but gives it a great vintage look. As yours, I can always put the original coke insert back on in a second.

Yours looks great!

Er, just a comment, hope you dont get offended.

93150 is not original to GMTs, 78360 is the oyster you should have for your 16750.

The jub looks great on a GMT by the way.
Mine came with the Jub originally.

Cheers

Actually, the 93150 was a factory option for the 16750.

Sorry Throttle, but the GMT 16750 could have come with a 93150 Oyster bracelet...as well as the 78360 Oyster or 62510 Jubilee. This has been discussed before here on the forum. I've owned a couple 16750 complete sets that had the warranty paper style number coded for the 93150 bracelet. On USA typed warranty papers during the 1980s and up, the style number was found in the top right hand corner of the warranty paper, just above the serial number. (Warranty papers outside the USA were still punched at this time while the USA papers were typed.) Also, if it has the original green sleeve that held the warranty paper, this sleeve should have a paper tag on it with the style number which contains a code or part number identifying the watch and bracelet.

If the style number ended in 9315, the bracelet was a 93150, 7836 for Oyster 78360 and 6251 for the Jubilee 62510.

Pictured below is a one of the 16750s that I owned. Notice the style code number typed at the top right side. It begins with 16750 and ends with 9315. The original green warranty paper sleeve was also included with the watch which contains a paper tag with the 16750 and 9315 designations.
