Lol....enjoy the watch chow....most of these guys jump all over postings screaming overpolished for asymmetrical lugs and constantly stress originality....to me the originality thing is the factor that's been over hyped by sellers....how the hell could you guarantee originality unless you're the first owner or you had every change documented by the likes of RSC? To me correctness is what I'm looking for on these watches over 40 years old. ...even then that's up to opinion and debate...everyone believes slightly different things regarding what's correct for what periods...especially transitional.

I mean it's great that a dial is picture perfect after fifty years....but stuff like that also leads me to question the "originality" of the said piece. I firmly believe appreciating imperfections from is a big part of enjoying vintage.

Mark I GMT dial era had the closed 6 and 9 date wheel - referred to as the "hooked 7" date wheel. The 6s and 9s were not open on this date wheel.

Below is a photo of the correct date wheel. Hopefully you'll develop an admiration for these date wheels as well!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement and guidance by wise members in here. I appreciate compliments and rational criticism as I want to know more about my watch.

But to be critical about originality for a watch over 50 years, it's nearly impossible for anyone to prove. Even the only owner would have lost their documents and service papers over time. As sensui says correctness is more sensible over originality which there's no such thing as DNA to prove for watches.

To me a Franken is when someone takes spare parts out of a drawer and assembles a watch from pieces that are not period correct or even original OEM Rolex and then try to pass it off as something other than a watch bin assembly. That’s a true Franken.

That’s a far cry from a daily warrior that has been serviced accordingly over the years as hands and bezels and even date wheels are routinely replaced by Rolex. If you feel like adding period correct parts back to make it “more original”, that’s your prerogative too!
