Choosing between my vintage 1972 GMT 1675 vs Brand New Daytona 2018

I know it's like apples and oranges but would like to hear from you. I can only afford one. I love my GMT but I saw the new Daytona and fits really well too.

On the vintage forum GMT... on the general forum Daytona.

In all honesty I’d take the Daytona by a mile.

There's not a single modern Rolex that would top a vintage GMT for me...

Yea I’d hold on to that one. But to each his own. There are pros and cons to modern and vintage. Depends on your lifestyle and needs.

GMT, not even close.

And I don’t dislike the modern Daytona.

But not close.

No romance in the daytona for me, GMT all the way.

Good thread though as they are both about the same price.

For now.

No way,The GMT will keep going up in price and eventually the Daytona market will even out.

Well your likely to get biased opinions on a vintage forum...!!! For me if the GMT was mint and had all the right vintage nuances I would keep it and buy a sweet Seiko as an everyday and keep the vintage for the good stuff ....If you want a watch for everyday and it's gotta be a Rolex go the Daytona...

That GMT 1675 is so full of character and unique in it's own! Compared to a sterile modern watch looking exactly the same with every watch, 1675 is just a keeper for life!

Long after you have extolled the virtues of the Daytona, you will be crying deep into the night over you decision to part with your GMT. It's a no brainer.

I’m not into vintage watches but that GMT looks too good to let go.

I'd keep it. Looks fantastic with the black insert. But a new watch has strong appeal as well. Good luck with your decision.

The Daytona-C is so, so over-rated. I've owned the black and white versions and flipped both fairly quickly. As Chuck D and Flavor Flav once said, "Don't Believe the Hype!"

I'm a vintage lover, but I also keep at least one modern watch in my collection, sometimes two. The Daytona-C is not one that I would buy.

So .... keep the GMT!
