Winding crown came out .. but working fine ?
Would like a bit of help from the experts if possible ..
Just pulled out the crown on my 1680 to adjust the time and it came clean out. Slightly horrified, I pushed it back in straight away, and adjusted the time accordingly and screwed it back in. Its working fine .. After the initial horror had died down I decided to pull out crown again as if I was adjusting it again ... it did not come clean out this time and appears to be quite firmly fixed? Anything to worry about? I've read previous threads re:loose retaining screw etc but it seems to be fine now and firmly seated? It has had Rolex AD services in the past including in the last 5 years ish. So, I don't suspect anything horrific going on inside.. Any comments from experts would be appreciated ! thanks in advance |

go to any watchmaker, and ask him to tighten your detent screw. 5 min fix.

It isn't going to heal itself, it will happen again. Every Rolex owner should develop relationship with a watchmaker, preferably Rolex trained.

Did the stem come out with it? I had my crown detach from the stem on my 7021. It just needed to be crimped and locktited. That looks like a dirty word. The product is called lock-tite!

Yes Harry... the complete stem came out with it in one piece. I need to find someone local who I can trust with it ...

Update : Purchased a 114300 white from my AD Friday. Was wearing my 1680 ... asked the sales guy to get their technicians to look at it while we discuss my new purchase. Told him the detent screw needed half a turn. .. and indeed it did ! So all fixed by Rolex technician and had the movement looked at and all confirmed the watch was in excellent condition for 40 year old and not requiring service yet.
Can recommend Michael Jones Northampton especially if you require an AD with Rolex technicians on site. |
