My new bicycle

Diamant is the oldest manufacturer in Germany with long experience in cycle sport.

You also need a nice basket up front so that you have a place to put groceries when going shopping..!

In the past, many world champions and winners of the peace race had a Diamant bike.

Well good for them, but unless I can actually look it up and understand the product this really serves very little purpose. I've been looking for a bike but I guess this won't be one of them.

Do US bicycle companies have German language websites?

Even the most simple of google searches will uncover UK sellers with that elusive English language.

Perhaps he wasn't trying to sell you one but merely showing off his new bike.

Diamant acquired by Trek..
"Today, Diamant’s legacy of innovation carries on as the company, which was acquired by Trek in 2002, continues to develop new technologies to make city riding more accessible to cyclists throughout Europe."

Of course you could google search the company name and just click this to get a translation. I know this could be a difficult process to follow but it may help. Good luck with finding your new bicycle.

Very nice bike Malak. Do you have an expandable bag to fit that rear rack? Axiom makes some really nice ones out of recycled fishing nets. Helps you carry the six pack and care for ocean creatures at the same time.

Guess that it’s not a literal translation or guess that our team hasn’t visited the factory where they’re manufactured?

They still had the factory in Hartmannsdorf a year ago and I assume still today. I have read and would assume Trek rebrands some of their China bikes as Diamant for sale in Germany. I would think that is the lower tier bikes.

Has the Hartmannsdorf plant closed?

As far as Germany, I’d only been to the headquarters in Hamburg back in 2014, so I can’t speak to Hartmannsdorf. Hamburg was definitely not a manufacturing plant. I find it hard to believe they’d move manufacturing from Asia to Germany since, but I guess it’s not impossible. Thanks for the direction, I’ll look into it. As for MY BIKE...Chinese.

Not China. The production takes place in Hartmannsdorf. Bicycles (Trek) are assembled there for the German market. Cannondale comes from China.

See the Video on german.

I have a solid piece of advice for ya... stick to bicycles that have websites in English (or the language of your choice) that can serve your purpose. There are plenty of options.

With many manufacturers you have a lot of choice up to 999 €. For example Kalkhoff, Cube, Diamant, Rose, Canyon. Falkenjagd uses titanium and is therefore significantly more expensive.
