Information and value of a 1946 Rolex 3131
Hello,
I inherited this Rolex from my grandfather. I'm trying to learn as much about it as I can, and to get a sense of its value, if possible. I gather it's a 14k 3131 and if I'm reading the serial number correctly (517xxx) it was produced in 1946. Anyway to tell if its all original? It seems to work extremely well -- the slightest movement starts the movement when it's been wound down. You'll see from one of the photos that I inherited it with a very 1980s 14k gold nugget bracelet (59 grams). I am planning on trading this for a newer Rolex submariner, so I'm curious about its value. I know trading it may seem odd (or even sacrilegious), but knowing my grandfather he'd much prefer I had a watch I wore regularly rather than keeping this in a safe. Even so, I'm fascinated by the watch and would like to know more about it. Are there any good references online on the 3131, history, movement, etc. Many thanks! |

you have a nice 3131. These watches came from regular yellow (what you have) to deep pink (almost purple) color. Excellent three piece BB. As far as value - look it up.
As far as trading this watch for a Sub - be prepared to add a lot of cash. |
