Yellow Patina - Let's see what you have!!!!
Let's see some of your vintage gentlemen - those special watches rarely seen or seldom worn that are kept in vaults and safes, rarely out in daylight where the dials have gone "mellow yellow."
If you have that yellow patina working on your dial, break it out, take some pics and let's see 'em. Also, it would be nice if you would provide some details or history on the watch for all the curious members here who frequent the vintage section of TRF. I'll start off with this seldom posted 1985 GMT 1650 which I have owned for over a decade now. It is an original example, and rarely makes it out of the vault. It was a one owner watch before I purchased it and is a very complete set. Definitely one of my favorite GMTs.

Great pics H. It's nice to see some other gold surround marker dial from the mid 1980s.
Those two beauties are very nice and rare indeed. Thanks for posting them up.

Keep the yellow fellows coming . . . and, how about some background on these watches if you have any...that would be nice. Great examples everyone.

Beautiful watches gentlemen! Love patina 👍🏻
I actually wear this a lot, but I think she spent some time in the dark in the past. Not quite yellow but more cream or tan. Lighting really changes the way the plots look in pics. She's a 1966 5513 Gilt Bart that has all "original" parts. Acquired a few months ago after a very long search. My birth year happens to be the same year as my favorite reference so this was really a watch I always wanted. Others may come and go, but this one will be with me for the rest of the journey. I think the dial is strongest element on this watch. My 1970 1675 has a little more subtle patina. Acquired this from our very own Springer. Thanks JP With a recently installed T38 With a T116

Here is another photo. Looks red to me!!! I believe the lighting plays tricks on the colors.

MKIV 1680 (with B&P) - photos taken a few days after I bought the watch, in May 2012. The patina has faded back to cream, now, which I like equally.

My perfect every day 5513 from -71 has nice patina. In some lighting it looks more yellow but this is the normal daylight patina.

To all, what amazing watches! Great thread Springer. Had this a year now and definitely a shade lighter than when I bought it. Well used since its purchase in the Middle East in early 80s

Great pictures all!
I think we are missing a 1016 on the thread so here is one from the mid 70's that I picked up recently and have been wearing almost constantly. |
