Michael,

Very nice indeed! I am trying to teach myself different styles of writing and it's not as easy as it seems. I'll put it a different way, it's not as easy as it seems and it's more frustrating than I thought

Specifically, the Gothic is one which I want to try, but just seem to falter every time I attempt it.

Thanks again for the compliments. I wrote a letter to a lady a while back in this gothic, all the right paper etc, suffice it to say that she was almost instantly in love! She could not stop thanking me!

She wanted to reciprocate, and she used to be a performer, so she sang a song for me and sent it electronically...I tell you, I got goosebumps knowing she was singing it to me

Moral of the story, fancy writing can help with wooing the dames!

Did you teach yourself to write the Gothic font, or is that something that you learned in school? It's really an amazing looking handwriting sample.

I taught myself that one, I also do a few others. When I get a chance, I will try a few more and post another photo...

Sample of mine... Not the best was taking some notes on a audio book.

I'm very envious of everyone here with fabulous writing. My handwriting can be read by me and a select group of friends and family (I will blame dyspraxia for that). I use a fountain pen daily as it feels nice and it makes my writing look pretty although still illegible. Once I've got a decent sample, I will post it up.

rkot07, how many jewels in the movement inside the Elgin pocket watch pictured with your writing sample? Also what size is the pocket watch…#16 or #18???

Btw. your cursive writing looks fantastic and it looks like you do a lot of writing instead of printing!!!

Take care…..Leo

Hey Leo thank you for the compliments. I got into cursive writing in the 6th grade. I had horrible writing that no one could read my teacher would constantly get on my case about my work not being legible. Then one day they taught us cursive. Caught on quick. I still have a hard time reading through my notes but it sure looks cool. Lol.

Anyways the Elgin is 7 jewels and a size 16. Looking up the serial in the Elgin database online it's a 1920 production. I broke the glass and need to get a replacement besides that the watch keeps perfect time. After a full wind the power reserve is about 24 hours.

Hi, being probably a bit older we learned Cursive Writing in the 3rd Grade. As for fountain pen use in elementary school I was one year to a couple years to late as when we got to start using pens in the 3rd grade…we started with 'Bic or ballpoint pens.'

Very nice on the pocket watch…make sure you check out the watchmaker or jeweler to make certain they know how to replace the crystal. As I've seen horror stories from friends who just took their pocket watch to the nearest repair shop and were not happy with the results!!!

Take care…..Leo

This is a great thread and am really pleased that it was recently continued.

I've never actually posted a sample of my penmanship on a forum, so that should be fun.

I'll upload a picture, either before, or over the weekend.

And hi, Leo. We shared some correspondence a while back, if you recollect.

Same here. Glad this thread was resurrected!

Makes me remember that I need to work on my penmanship!

Absolutely!

I've actually been housebound for the last 5 years (lower left leg amputation with complications) and really miss the whole letter writing, envelope addressing (and return address!!!), placing the stamp perfectly square routine. The only thing I didn't like was physically posting the letter! :-)

I haven't forgotten about posting a picture.

Unfortunately, I've been rather poorly, lately, and it's affected me more than I care to admit.

I'll post one when I'm feeling a tad better in myself.
